I dare you to resist. I mean, both this:

and this:

OMG. Dr. Min has officially became my favorite drama hero ever.
Episodes 8 and 9 (so far) are amazing. Thank You is a rare drama that gets better with each ep. Not as many caps because I was too busy being emo or rageful, but there are still plenty, plus meta.
After the relative light-heartedness of seven (kissing! morning adorableness! tucking-in! etc) we are sort of in a free-fall of angst. It all starts with spraying adjumma dying despite Dr. Min's best efforts. Oh, that scene killed me. I am sure he has lost a patient before, but for him at this point: only now beginning to recover from Dead!Gal's death (and his helplessness to save her), still haunted by his father's actions etc etc. Let's put it this way, he is not in the best shape to deal with this, especially when not blanketed by a medical setting and the comfort of a hospital.
And of course YS sees it all: his attempts to save her, his falling apart. And that horrible adjusshi who I hope gets killed in a spectacular manner starts ranting and raving that Dr. Min killed his aunt and calls the cops as Dr. Min sits there like a zombie, suffering two separate post-traumatic flashbacks at once? Not fun. UGH.
And the cops show and he says 'yes, I killed her' (idiot boy!) and they take him away in handcuffs and he has so withdrawn into himself, so retreated into a zombie state, and YS is crying and he doesn't see her...
I do love that through this whole ep and next she treats Scumbag like empty space. Not on purpose, to be mean, but because emotionally he ceased to matter to her and she is so wrapped up in saving Dr. Min. And it stings Scumbag, it does!
I have to say that in eps 8 and 9 I have grudgingly stopped hating Scumbag: his support of YS was genuine, and so was his pleading for Dr. Min. I still don't like him: he is a coward. He is about reacting, not acting, about running away, not confronting. Dr. Min, with all his faults, is never a coward, never backs down from what he thinks he should do, what is right. Just contrast the reaction to outing of Bom as HIV+ to the village. Scumbag is concerned and sweet but he does nothing, only offer to help YS move away. And he tells her if she wants him to stay by her, he will (as opposed to staying by her side protecting her without her having to tell him). Dr. Min? He rushes back (OMG, the look on YS' face when she sees him) and takes her back to the village etc.
OK, this is sort of a digression from ep 8 stuff. I love seeing YS all determined, telling Bom she will bring adjusshi (Dr. Min) back. But of course, cops say that her testimony is well and good but the nephew is saying otherwise, blah blah. Dr. Min finally gets freed and exonerated from any blame because Incompetent Doctor atones for his obnoxiousness by helping and getting Scumbag to plead with dead woman's husband to tell the truth about her condition (and YS learns that Dr. Min never took guy's land etc in process eeeee!)
So Dr. Min is released, but understandably, he does not return to the island (loved YS realizing that too). I did love the scene with his father, where we find out his father performed euthanasia on a friend and lost his license, was divorced from Dr. Min's mom, and Dr. Min's sis died. No wonder he turned into a cold, sarcastic bastard. But what is so painful about that scene with Dr. Min and his father is that Dr. Min is so upset because he still loves and admires his father and so he can't accept it because it's so far from his image of Dad etc etc. That was an awesome scene.
So he is slowly going to hell in Seoul, and there are many moments of how ill-fitted he is for his new business role, for his Seoul life in general, but the one that sticks out for me is his slowly choking himself on his tie in the elevator.
When Incompetent Doc comes to visit to bring apology of nephew (WTF! People in this drama are a little too fond of believing in the apologies being enough: I am sorry, a second hand apology isn't enough when what you are apologizing for is putting an innocent man in jail) and Dr. Min finds out about YS and Bom being ostracized. And he rushes back and it's going to save YS and Bom, of course (I love how he effortlessly fits in, as if he never left, and manages to protect Bom a bit longer from knowing about her HIV), but in addition to saving them, it's going to save him, too.
Oh, and the brave, clever way YS is shielding Bom from the knowledge? LOVE.
Anyway, enough blabber. Caps:
Adjumma died and he is going into shock:

Flashbacking to his Dad being taken away for euthanizing:

Cops take him away:

Behind bars:

And he flashbacks to chatting with Bom. I might or might not have cried at that point.

I kinda like this shot of Scumbag protecting oblivious YS from the rain:

This flashback shot is here purely for hotness reasons:

Scumbag earns brownie points by pleading with the witness on behalf of Dr. Min.

He is released. The cops are all 'you are innocent, ooops. Never mind, we won't apologize.'

The scene with his Dad:

I loved the scene of YS methodically eating Dr. Min's toast because she knows he is not coming back:

And Bom weeping:

Meanwhile, Dr. Min is back in his swanky apartment, and he is back to falling apart (but looking yummy while doing so):

He can't sleep, again (unlike is YS' house):

He is working at his Mother's company but it's slowly choking him:

I loved this scene:

He finds out islanders found out about Bom:

YS being wonderful sheltering Bom:

Scumbag, if you keep being so cool, I might have to rename you:

OMG, he is back!!!!

AND he saves Grandpa:

And Bom is so deliriously happy to see him back:

*meep*

Continuing to make Grandpa feel better:

Also, is it me, or are all of Jang Hyuk's clothes in this drama totally awesome? Whoever is his stylist for this should be doing all the dramas.

Seriously, how can anyone be so good-looking?

This scene made me melt. Bom is ostracized by an infant's mother and a school friend and she is weeping everybody is strange and why is everyone running away and YS is trying to come up with excuses and failing and Dr. Min effortlessly fixes it all: he quickly touches her face and smears it with dirt and makes her believe it's because he face is dirty and then gets her into an argument so she'd get all indignant and stop being sad (isn't it what he used to do with YS? She took things uncomplainingly from everyone but he'd get her to rail at him).

Seriously, I don't think it's possible for me to love a fictional kdrama character more.

I love the mirrored shots:

He fixes that baby. Btw? Man with baby? Mmmm...I am getting to the age it makes me MELT (Doesn't Jang Hyuk have a newborn of his own, btw? *insert brief real-life swoon* Whenever I know a drama actor has a kid, I like them more: Kimura Takuya, Fujiki Naohito, Ryu Jin, Lee Jong Hyuk etc):

If I remember right, Jang Hyuk was part of the Letters to the Angels campaign of 2007. I think he had that white button-down shirt on (all unbuttoned, by the way) and taken semi-profile.
