Of shoes, books and other yummy things

I just bought myself a pair of gorgeous black sandals with 4.5 inch heels and patent upper part with cork platform from Nine West.
Lookie, lookie and weep in envy: ;)

I plan to wear it with this dress I bought at Anthropologie a few weeks back (I just discovered this store and it’s going to ruin my wallet):

I also bought a cute red-and-white-circles dress from a small store, which is quasi-50s style just like the one above, with the slightly poofy skirt and a fitted top. It has wide shoulder straps and a couple of red buttons on the front. I love that style because I love retro looks but also because it’s the one that looks best on me, so am happy it’s coming back. And now I’ll have something else to pair with the strappy red sandals I bought in a store in Asakusa. I didn’t have much to pair with them earlier except for a pleated two-layer skirt I bought in Kyoto which had some red in it.
Guuuh, I am such a consumer lately. I should take pictures of it because I suck at description of clothes.
In less shallow news, I am reading Tom Holland’s Persian Fire about the roots for the Greek-Persian wars in the 5th century BC (as well as about the wars themselves) and it’s a total page turner, every bit as good as his earlier Rubicon. That’s why I am not keen on historical fiction. Non-fiction is crazier and more exciting than anything a novelist can do.
And to conclude, here is the youtube vid I am in love with. It's the picturization of 'Tauba Tumhare Yeh Ishare' from the gorgeous Bolly movie Chalte Chalte. It's sexy and romantic and set in Greece (the number) and adorable.

Date: 2007-05-10 01:32 am (UTC)And that video, how I love it! Whenever I think of the definition of "fashionable", I think of this video. And that green strapless tanktop Rani wears? I saw a shirt exactly like it at Bebe once, and it was something like $80! OH! And the white and red dress she wears? I saw a skirt EXACTLY like that at Winners on sale, and didn't buy it because I was only a poor college student. Woe!

Date: 2007-05-10 05:38 am (UTC)But...it seems a silly icon to make a request of, and i can't make icons of that(also with sano and his hugeness, i've wanted a hero/sidekick one of him towering over kenshin and a tall woman/sano one of him and megumi with her only reaching his shoulders. no sano fixations here, nope, not me)
And aye, I know what you mean, though it didn't really bother me in Kimi...maybe because I don't think that's the case in RL for the actors?
Actually, it's always struck me as odd that my 5'4" and 5'9" parents had a 5'1" and 6' kids...that's genetics for you.
