dangermousieLee is much more like Hornlower from HH than Archie. Not just the dark hair, but the whole somewhat reserved and prickly very competent officer. And he is also a Captain, hmmmmm... Of course, HH did not have Daddy issues as his own is dead and he idolizes his father figure Pellew. But does that make Starbuck Archie? :D She is blonde, but I don't remember any Horatio/Archie fantasy!sex (though I know some people would probably die from happiness if there was).

I think that Lee is Horatio in temperment and competence--and especially in that his physical courage is not inborn but hard won, and fought for again every time. But Kara is not Archie. I'm not sure if she has an HH analog.
Hmmmm . . . Kara is Captain Jack Aubrey. Discuss =P.

Date: 2005-07-15 05:34 pm (UTC)What I like about Commander Adama that he is a fair, compassionate and the kind of guy you want to be in charge of things. Like Pellew, he has his favorites. Come on, you don't think he thought of Hornblower as a son the way that Hornblower thought of Pellew as his dad?
As for slash stories between HH and Archie, there are a ton of them out there. I have read a few, but I am not into slash, so I never bookmarked them. I am sure they would have Apollo/Starbuck pairing in fanfic be that Starbuck a girl or not. Don't ya think?
I can't wait for BSG to start again. I expect a lot from it tonight and know I won't be disappointed. I even put up my BSG icons on my LJ in honor of the second season.

Date: 2005-07-15 05:39 pm (UTC)I like Adama, but I think Pellew is a somewhat better leader (though of course he is not in an apocalyptic situation). Would he have taken down Roslin?
Pellew is all about love and mutual admiration with Horatio, something Adama has more with Kara than with Lee.

Date: 2005-07-15 05:48 pm (UTC)That is where I see some of the similarities. The favoritism is there completely. But, both Pellew and Adama are great leaders. I am sure that Pellew would have possibly done the same thing if faced with the end of the world and not just Napoleon taking it over.
As for Starbuck - they won't kill her off the way they did Archie. I think that the purist didn't like having a non-canon character being Horatio's best friend.
