Upcoming movie I am looking forward to: The Rising

This is an Indian movie that deals with the start of the 1857 rebellion against the British in India, which was started because the "native" soldiers believed that the new cartridges that they had to bite through were coated with pig and beef fat.

The movie is about Mangal Pandey (Aamir Khan), the sepoy who started the rebellion by shooting his commanding officer. It also involves his best friend, a British Officer (played by my fave Toby Stephens) who falls in love with a young widow he rescues from the suttee (Amisha Patel). There's also a hooker played by Rani Mukherjee. It's a period flick, with fighting, principles, and star-crossed lovers. What's not to like? It's opening in August.

This movie kind of scares me. Aamir scares me. And I never liked Amisha Patel anyways.

Rani is kind of looking pudgy in that pic. Not that there's nothing wrong with that. Hmm.

I don't think I'm interested enough to watch it. Maybe when I'm bored a month or so after it comes out on DVD.
