Song on a Friday morning...
May. 23rd, 2008 10:07 amGLAY remains one of the extremely rare exceptions to my absorbing lack of interest in Japanese music of any stripe (I think early exposure to scary Johnnys Entertainment/Jimucho, whatever one of the two is the correct way to refer to them, scarred me for life*). It helps that they are actually what I think of when I think of a band: i.e. a group of people who had common tastes in music and joined together to play instruments and sing, writing their own stuff, not the odd thing that I find JE or SuperJunior or whatnot, where they hire pretty people and train them to do stuff.
I am so addicted to the above song it's not funny.
*It's my not-so-well-kept secret that even though I like some of the guys in Johnnys as actors (Kimura, Yamapi, Matsujun, Takki), I always feel 'relieved' if I am watching a drama with a non-Johnny's person in the role(s) because the concept of Johnny's freaks me out.

Date: 2008-05-25 05:03 am (UTC)I agree with the thing about Johnny's boys; quite a few of them are talented, most of them are good-looking (though I really want to force-feed them at times; get some meat on your bones!), and some of them I like very much (Yamapi in particular) - but when I think too much about that agency I get the creeps. And it's busy recruiting new blood all the time. Shudder!
BTW, happy happy birthday for tomorrow, dangermousie!

Date: 2008-05-27 03:39 pm (UTC)Exactly. I was horrified by how skinny Kame was in Tattakoi or Matsujun in Kima Wa Petto. My God. I want kdrama guys to take their shirts off but for JE boys to keep them on!

Exactly.
And thanks for the bday wishes!

Date: 2008-05-28 08:50 am (UTC)I was saying this to xiaobellsa the other day: even Yamapi, who I tend to think of as one of the 'curvier' members of Johnny's and who obviously likes his food, is still pretty damn skinny. That's where kdramas and twdramas and their nicely-fleshed men are so very good to us *grin*.
