I am in the middle of Steven Saylor's "Catilina's Riddle" as recommended by [livejournal.com profile] queenofthorns It's very good (much better than the "spoiled jazz baby meets shell-shocked WWI vet in Singapore" book by Emma Drummond I tried reading prior which almost killed the brain cells), and my Catilina love continues to burn strong.

Also, yesterday night I was cranky, tired, and with a headache. So I popped in the one thing guaranteed to make me feel better: The Peacekeeper Wars. Maybe it's the skeptic in me, but I couldn't believe I got the payout I did for following Farscape...wow.

I love watching John and Aeryn together. Their UST has turned into RST and they haven't lost one bit of their edge or wit or watchability. There's still plenty of angst from other sources, and they still kiss and quip and fight and burn up the screen. Only Crichton is more relaxed and comfortable in his skin now that he has Aeryn for good, and Aeryn is a bit more warm and laid-back now that she has John. We've seen the RST Aeryn and John before, in DD and IA (though boy, how it ended!), and there they also didn't lose an iota of interest. It's their interactions and their characters that keep them fascinating, not artificial barriers thrown to stop them.

The scene that makes me awww and laugh and just turn into a puddle of goo? It's a really little one. Aeryn is giving birth and Crichton brings a knife, and Aeryn, pretty out of it goes: "Good, now we can cut it out!" to which Crichton replies, patiently and calmly "it's for your clothes" to which she goes "right," sounding insanely disappointed. I love how he can always keep his head when he knows she needs it, in the middle of birth or a battle (and how S1 Crichton would have flipped) and how Aeryn is strong and focused and having John's baby!! *gets almost overwhelmed by squishy bunnies* And then the wedding, truly shotgun (I am amused by how narrowly little Crichton escaped being a bastard, and by how different the fire zone wedding is from the elaborate one Crichton thought of in Dog with Two Bones), and the melty moment after she's given birth and they have that amazing kiss when:

She: Can you do something for me?
He: Name it.
She: Can you get us out of here?
He: Done.

And then the music plays and they come out, guns a-blazing, Aeryn with the baby in a make-shift sling and shooting and guuuuuuh...Bonny and Clyde got nothing on them. And of course it is not "strong man protect little lady" as she is shooting her way out as well, and minutes later saves him from the Scarran psychobitch that kept hunting him for ages.

I just love it because in Farscape women are allowed to be equal and strong and complex and fucked-up and warm and this is not seen as denigration of the hero. It's just the hero is just as complex and interesting and strong as the heroine. Guh again.

Crichton might be my POV character, but just like him, I adore Aeryn.

Never did I think I'd get such a wonderful payback. Oh, and D'Argo. Not dead, not dead, not dead

In highly amusing Bollywood news, apparently tapes have surfaced which link Bollywood heartthrob superstar Salman Khan (pic for those interested here) to the mob. And by link, I mean "he calls his girlfriend and threatens her and repeatedly describes in detail his hand in glove mafia relations and involvement." All this, despite being told by her that the lines are tapped. I guess he didn't get popular based on his brains. Well, he is still good beefcake, so that bothers me little, even if it is true.

He must have been out of his mind drunk. Supposedly he even claims involvement with the infamous 1992 bomb-blasts :D What's next, shooting Ghandi?

See, what he is saying to her in my icon is: "Aishwaria, you should love be because I assasinated Gandhi even before I was born" LOL. I find the man ogle-worthy and occasionally a good actor, but really, if this is true, how dumb can you get?

He's the one I don't like because he just looks nasty, right?

If you mean the one who was in the movie about the heart transplant thingy, then yeah.

Hey, he's the guy who thought that people would love "Hello Brother" and who suggested the screenplay for Chandra Mukhi (with Sridevi as some sort of alien goddess). That alone should tell you that higher brain power was never one of his strenghts :D

Hear, hear about John and Aeryn ... apart from D'Argo's demise, PKW was a good payback for almost two years of no Farscape whatsoever. I wish more series about romantic involvement would write such strong characters where you can even have a RST couple and it is still damn frelling interesting to watch them.

Salman, you are an idiot. He really should lay off the booze, otherwise eh will talk himself straight into gaol.

Oh yes. I remember watching and literally gasping and grabbing the sofa cushions in excitement and just dying out of bliss. I love that the thing about J/A that made they wonderful wasn't "when will they have sex" (because they did it all the way back in S1) but just their personalities interacting. And that scene where he unleashes the wormhole weapon...best scene in Farscape, IMO.

Re: Salman. If the tapes are real, he is in SO much trouble now, I don't even want to imagine it.
