Man, LJK's Iljimae debuted with 17% ratings in the Seoul area and 15%+ nationwide. That's pretty impressive for a pilot, especially lately. I can bet the producers are already weeping into their soju glasses over him enlisting next year.

Oh, and the raws are out already. I am so watching raws asap, are you kidding me? Tortured revolutionary-type swordsmen FTW.

In other news, SHRIEK!

How cute is this:

Basically, they are eating and she is all upset because there is no egg in her ramen, because it's her favorite part of the dish, so he matter-of-factly just smooshes his on her plate, and is all blandly 'I don't like egg in my ramen.'

AWWWW. *squishes them SO hard* If it isn't so Gwan Pil-ish, to show his care not in romantic gestures but something so incredibly practical and neat and much cooler than silly gestures. Just like he taught Ggot Nim that if a strange grown-up tries to get her to go with him, she should say no, and run to areas with people and towards the road, in ep 7. I could so see him training/drilling her.

You know, I totally know why I fell for GP so hard: I have never had a drama character who was more my RL type before. It's as if they basically pulled together what I like about guys in RL. It's rare enough when they have close to my RL type in a drama (e.g. Gong-Chan in My Girl), but this precisely? EEEE. Usually, dramas have my fictional-type (quite different from RL type, but ones I love in fiction) but when they do RL type...I am smitten. Helplessly.

Also, apparently, in ep 12, Ggot Nim is all (to Young Jin), 'you like my Dad, right?' Heeee.

Oh, and apparently Su Ho kneels and begs Gwan Pil for forgiveness. EEEE! I love the new, grown-up Su Ho a LOT.

Oh, and First Lady (because she found out about GN) offers to take the kid, I think, and he tells her 'GP: I'm not doing this on behalf of anyone else. This is because of myself. Ggot Nim is my family. If that child is taken away, then I...I can't live. I'm sorry.' Oh boy. If they take her away from him, I'll cry. Cry cry cry.

Also, Su Ho's Noona should go to a warm place where gentlemen with horns and pitchforks will be frying her in skillets because it's all her fault. She basically caused Su Ho to lose eight years of his life (he could have continued being the sweet guy he was before, and be with a girl he loved and his child) and she caused Gwan Pil to give up his life, too (he had to quit his law studies and if it wasn't for the whole mess, he too would have found some girl and settled down by now with a family of his own etc etc etc).

Oh, and apparently poor Gwan Pil is freaking out they might take GN away. AWWWW. Noooooo!

In yet other news, is anyone on my flist watching Spotlight?

It just started and seems like it could be cute. It is a journalist drama.

This is Our Hero. He used to do political news but pissed off someone important so now he is covering society page and HATES it. I haven't seen Ji Jin Hee in anything (though he is very famous) and I am not fond of the haircut, but grumpy newspaper guy is always an amusing trope.

This is Our Heroine, third-year reporter. Apparently as a junior reporter she had two years of hell and was looking forward to a more senior status and a better life. That is, until she got Our Hero, the boss from hell. She totally hates him. But, of course, he is going to fall in lurve with her.

This is Heroine's Job Rival.

This hottie is Heroine's Older Brother. He is in TV and helps his sis out sometimes. Also, he is HOT. I want him and Heroine's Job Rival to make out in a closet.

Junior reporters. Who knew reporters were so photogenic?

Though to be honest, chances of my checking this out while it's running, what with Powerful Opponents, Iljimae just starting, Wish to See You Again running, a bunch of past dramas I need to catch up on (not to mention my mad marathon of The Devil), including my way overdue yen for Bara No Na Hanaya, chances of me getting to this any time soon, are non-existent.

Hmmm, Spotlight? Looks interesting. I wonder how the plot goes. I haven't seen a journalist drama since All About Eve. AND Ji Jin Hee is the Hero? Wow! I'm getting excited by the minute. Is the heroine Son Ye Jin? =)

Yes, the heroine is Son Ye Jin. Ji Jin Hee would be nicely paired with her, I think :)

Ah but you have. He was in Perhaps Love (the one with Takeshi Kaneshiro) - the first person we see in the opening of the movie, in fact :) I have seen him in Dae Jang Geum, too, and dude is he different without beard. And last night I just saw him in a movie alongside Moon So-Ri (Kiha from Legend), titled Bewitching Attraction :) I must say Ji Jin Hee's thick hair style here is rather horrid. I am not fond of it in the least. Heh. Spotlight reminds me of a really old Japanese drama with Hideaki Takizawa, called Anchor Woman, in that it is journalist centric. Hmmm. May just be worth it.

Re: Gwan Pil. Have you watched the movie Miss Golddigger? It's cute and has Gwan Pil in a similar role. Nonchalant and "cool" attitude, that is :)

In Spotlight, I mean :)

Yes, I also think that his hair style in Spotlight is horrid. I prefer his locks in Love Letter, Miss Kim's Adventure in Making Millions or even in Dae Jang Geum. =)

That was him? Cool.

What is MG about?

Basically about your pretty, 20ish something girl looking for love while keeping her options open. She dates 3 or so men simultaneously, only to find that none of them is really what she's looking for, and voila, the guy she seems to hate (ie. 'Gwan Pil') is actually the one most suitable for her. The ending doesn't really provide a closure, but overall the movie was quite enjoyable nonetheless.
