According to poseoul (my gossip site of choice, so viciously amusing), Lee Jun Ki has apparently announced that he plans to enlist next year.

WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!

Apparently, if something cool comes up between end of Iljimae and then, he'll do it, and if not, Iljimae is his last thing.

He totally doesn't have to go yet and normally celebrities do everything possible to do it at the last minute! Patriotism or what not is all well and good but NOT WHEN IT DEPRIVES ME OF MY PRETTY BOYS.

I mean, Gong Yoo won't be out yet, and Eric and Lee Dong-Wook and Jo In Sung would have gone in. Etc etc etc. I was counting on people like Jun Ki and Joo Ji Hoon to help carry the slack but nooooo...

Seriously. The only kdrama other guy who I know enlisted early is Yoon Kye Sang *swoon* so what's with that, LJK?

*clutches the kdrama stars who have already done the army thing and thus won't run off to enlist* What next, Kang Ji Hwan entering a monastery? Bae Yong Joon deciding he will take another six years between kdramas! What?

*bewails*

Ah, well. I will trust the super secret Korean hot guys factories that they must run somewhere on outskirts of Seoul to provide me with suitable ogling compensation...

They should have a special drama division in the army, dediacted to nothing but making dramas. They can insert 'buy war bonds' after every ep, I don't care.

Lee Jun Ki?! so early... i hope Hyun Bin would still stick around while he's gone. it was already hard not to see anything Won Bin when he was serving and it didn't even last for 2 years. now it's LJK. :(

We finally get LJK in a DRAMA, a period one at that, and he ups and goes to enlist himself. I think my view of him as a masochist is rapidly changing into SADIST.

OMG. Think of us fans! Do we not deserve loyalty and love?

And though I'm sure Korean won't fail to manufacture more hot men, I'm just not sure if they'll have decent acting skills. I'm so partial to the hot men that are already produced!

I am just glad I discovered Ji Sung, Go Soo et al after they got out of the Army. Not to mention Kang Ji Hwan etc. Yay.

Woe, not even those actors will not alleviate my pain. Go Soo and Ji Sung are super hot, but Ji Sung can only be found in medical shows now, which I don't watch, and I haven't heard of any dramas from Go Soo for a while now...

My favorite Kdrama actors are LJK, Lee Wan, Gong Yoo, Jo In Sung, and Kim Min Jong.

With Gong Yoo and Jo In Sung gone starting in 2008, and LJK bound for 2009, and Kim Min Jong not only not being in anything good for the last EIGHT YEARS, but also mainly playing side roles, and Lee Wan doing only CAMEOS...I am destitute.

Even Eric, whom I liked from Super Rookie is gone for 2008 as well...

Wow, I didn't realize that Korean entertainers were so loyal to their country. I can't think of any other country that has people in show biz enlist. Even though their fans will miss them, it sure is awesome of them to do something like that. Hopefully they won't be in harm's way or anything like that though. :(

Korea has mandatory draft for all the men. Most entertainers choose to (understandably) to delay the most they can, so LJK's actions are pretty unusual.

Korean guys are kinda 'old' when they enlist. We have mandatory draft here too but our boys get their call up papers much earlier, I think most do their turn when they are around 19-21 yrs. And it's not 2 years either...

Yeah, in Korea it seems you can enlist really late. Odd.
