BSG special
Jul. 12th, 2005 11:13 amWatched it last night. Who comes up with these? It did not induce any desire to watch either of the Stargates (previous interest level: 0. Current interest level: 0), and if I didn't already like BSG, I would have had no interest in watching that either. In fact, it would have been a good interest-killer.
Considering I have no interest in SG-1 or Atlantis, I spent 2/3 of my time torn between: "Meh. What? Whatever?" "the guy with dreads kinda looks like Eomer" and "Ben Browder! Hot! Farscape nostalgia!" And the rest (BSG stuff) was not very interesting either. There are hot people on the show? Really, you don't say. Wow, you guys are showing footage from the first season. Amazing, none of us had ever seen it before, a few months back. And the point of this exercise was? An ultimate non-event event. The channel selling advertising on a program that is itself advertising. Huh.
Also, everyone is horrified by Jamie Bamber's bad clothes, but being a Bollywood fan, a short shirt and capris are nothing. Just wait till you see see-through shirts, or mesh shirts, or vinyl on men who otherwise appear not to be working as "professionals" in gay bars but instead are pillars of the movie industry. Not to mention a sweater-shorts combo of one pic that still leaves me breathless. In a bad way. You'll beg for capri pants.

Date: 2005-07-12 03:19 pm (UTC)Heee! OK, now I am really hoping for a Bollywood Fashion Faux-Pas A-Go-Go post from you ;)
Jamie just looks like he pulled out his clothes from the laundry basket without much thought … and I’m happy someone else dresses him on BSG!

Re: Jamie. I still think he is hot, capri pants or not :D

Date: 2005-07-12 06:03 pm (UTC)It was worth it drudging through hours of people squeeing about how hot they are to see the interview with Mary McDonnell. She looked utterly breathtaking, and her faerie energy just made me want to play in the sun with soap bubbles and butterflies. (Yeah, I'm a fangirl. Shoot me.)
I still want to see BSG, but dudes, did I have to see Grace Park behind a bar making obnoxious alcoholic beverages?

Date: 2005-07-12 08:18 pm (UTC)Did you notice that MMD and EJO were barely in the special. I wonder why. I would have much preferred character talk to "OMG I can read so fast" and "OMG X is hot."

Date: 2005-07-12 10:05 pm (UTC)Probably because they're "old people" and the perception is, nobody would be interested in them.
I really dislike the bias towards the youngsters in BSG advertising, like it's not worth watching unless there are young, pretty people in it. I find the oldsters MUCH more interesting.
OR... the two of them might've had better things to do than a fluffy special for Sci-Fi channel. :D

Date: 2005-07-12 10:19 pm (UTC)I was rather dissapointed in the special as it was even more lightweight than I thought it would be.

Date: 2005-07-13 04:10 am (UTC)I tried watching Stargate repeatedly and failed. So can't help you there.
I am so glad to learn I'm not the only one. It seems like something I would like, so I've tried many times to "get into it." To no avail.

Date: 2005-07-12 08:16 pm (UTC)Paisan! You and me both, sister. :)
I get to see this exposition on Friday, when they rerun it (thank god!). It's programmed on the DVR. They MUST have created those things for aging, memory-impaired Baby Boomers. LOL

Date: 2005-07-13 04:44 am (UTC)There was something about his clothes...?
I...remember arms and being able to see his legs and a tiny sliver of his stomach for a second...then there was a fog of glee that leaves me unable to recall anything specific.
Go figure.
