Something happened in Bali: my annoyance with the heroine happened, that's what

Argh, the heroine of Something Happened in Bali annoys me. Stop your frakking whining.

Seriously. When a hot rich guy who is in love with you offers you an apartment, clothes and lots of cash (in fact he literally says everything except marriage. Of course, I see why that makes heroine feel unworthy, but she is supposed to be playing at a pragmatist here) you should either take him up on it or not. If not, stop whining about 'I am so poor no cash blah blah.' Yeah, I'd understand and think you just wanted an honest job if I haven't seen you agree to more tawdry things for less cash.

Or, if you do take him up on the offer (smart girl). Then for goodness' sake, stop acting like a Christian about to be fed to the lions. No one made you accept. The guy is young, hot, and madly in love with you. Hell, he bought you all this stuff and he 'keeps' you without laying a finger on you. Have you ever heard of something like that? So stop with the wailing. And the glum faces. Actually, how about you smile a bit, and then offer sex because so far he is not getting the benefit of the bargain. Or say no thanks for everything and leave. But pick something and stop the freaking weeping. You are not some helpless victim, jeez.

(I think Jae-Min is just terrified he'll lose her, you see it again and again, he half expects her to be gone when he comes into the apartment every time. He tries to 'chain' her to him with material things. Maybe if he gives her enough, she'll stay, she'll love him back. Dummy, just tell her ILY repeatedly and get her some flowers. That will help).

Also, I think I'll rewatch Hana Yori Dango, both parts, this time in a giant subtitled binge. I've bee rewatching the scene in the cabin in ep 11 of HYD2 this morning and sniffling and grinning like mad.

I don't have episodes 11-15 as the files were expired in jrdamas. But, yep, by watching 15-20 (skipping a lot, though) I have a feeling that heroine's reasons for not accepting his love are very contrived. What I need is a happy drama with Jo In Sung. Have you heard anything about "Shoot for the Star"?

I agree on the contrived thing. SHiB is such an uneven thing for me. The other guy annoys me and so doe the heroine but Jae-Min is so awesome.

I've heard good things about SftD (and I think it has a happy ending) but I haven't seen it though I have a copy. Is JIS in it?

Oh annoying heroines...so is this the guy that she'll eventually wake and realize that she'll love? Or just a side trip before her "one true love?" And I totally second the rewatch of Hana Yori Dango! There's nothing like the Tsukushi/Tsukasa sheer adorableness to brighten up my day.

you too, rewatch hyd 2 cabin scene. i do that also, i just totally love that scene. it my favorite part when my favorite 0tp get together. all the sweetness in that scene make me smile through my mouth hurt from smiling so much.

And OMG I was rewatching HYD 2 and I realized I must have skipped/skimmed the last ep because I totally missed the 'hana yori dango' speech between Rui and Makino. I seriously need to watch again so I don't miss over SUCH important things. Heh.
Yes, I think I like Japanese heroines the most (Makino from HYD, Oka from Ace wo Nerae, Anne suzuki's character from Stand up!, Yankumi from gokusen etc etc). Korean heroines come second only bcoz korean dramas are so long so the heroines tend to go back and fourth. My least favourite are taiwanese. Geez some of them need to cute down on the 'cute' factor (i.e Ranie Yang, Cyndie Wang) but some get it juuust right (i.e Ariel Lin, Barbie Hsu)

I like Korean the best: usually I like them as much if not more than the heroines. Japanese heroines tend to annoy the heck out of me because they come across as over the top: too shrill, too cutesy, not charming enough. There are of course exceptions.

Jae-Min shoots Soo-Jung and In-Wook who've run away together because he thinks Soo-Jung played him from the start, but the irony is SJ just finished telling IW that she loves JM and wants to go back to him. And when she is dying she says ILY to JM who goes and shoots himself.
