dangermousieYou know, every time I think I can't like this drama more than I do now, it proves me wrong. Ep 5 was the best ep yet.
I had both clubbox and sendspace going to see which one finishes faster. Yeah, I am hopeless.
ETA: Previouslys. Why do I have to see them the second time around when I didn't even want to see them he first time. First Shigeru/Domyouji now Rui/Makino. Show me some D/M mackin' please :)
ETA: Yay! They listened to me and we get a recap of him on top of her (OK, that unfortunately sounds much more explicit than what actually happened but a girl can dream).
ETA: OMG, what are they talking about? EEEEE! Any D & M interaction makes me giddy.
ETA: Finally. Rui hangs up. Don't you know eavesdroppers hear no good of themselves? Or apparently pleasant things about their dating prospects, either.
ETA: I have no idea what Domyouji is telling Makino, in an adorably crabby fashion, so I'll just concentrate on how gorgeous he looks, sitting crosslegged, that yummy shirt, collarbones a bit visible. And yay, I can get that there was another bit of language mangling (and he gives her a little puppy look when she notices). Oh, Domyouji, never change.

ETA: And then we cut to Rui's bed of angst, as he throws himself down on it, phone still in hand, but turned off. I am not sure whether to feel sorry for his heartbreak or drool over how gorgeous he looks in this shot. That shot of him lying back, white shirt is just...guuuuh. After rewatching ep 4, I really do think he is still hung up on Shizuka and projecting onto Makino, but it has to suck for him either way (I am still hoping for Shizuka/Rui, so there).
ETA: OMG, and now M &D are mentioning Rui and OMG, did Domyouji just ask her if Rui kissed her? Ooooh. Watch everything go to hell...

ETA: And he keeps asking and she keeps avoiding and soon they are back to shouting at each other and there is a Susumu interruption (awwww) and finally she snaps at him that yes, Rui did kiss her, and OMG, look on Domyouji's face (during the later part of this convo they are in a dark room so it contributes to the intimacy of the moment) and she goes back to being a bit off guard and defensive and the whole scene is just...guuuuuh. How does this drama keep getting better and better?
ETA: And then Susumu comes back in and Domyouji has to head out, after wishing him luck on the test? I find Susumu-Domyouji bonding adorable. EEEE! It's probably Domyouji's first experience of any sort of a family (I don't think about of F4 parents are really close to their kids, with the possible exception of Akira's nutty Mom and the less said about her the better :D)

ETA: Akira and Shigeru? I wouldn't inflict Shigeru on the poor boy. It looks like Shigeru is finding out the truth about our poor star-crossed woobies from Akira. (That's how it went in Meteor Garden as I recall). Also, come on, if the two of them (R & D) keep breaking up all the time, the friendship has issues.

Because half the time he has no idea how to express himself (no wonder, look at upbringing) but there is something very right in him and when he cares, he really goes all out and doesn't think anything of it. He has this enormous capacity for caring.
ETA: And now he is saying 'Gambare.' EEEEEEE! You know, I think I love Domyouji more in these scenes than I do in scenes with Makino. Because he loves Makino, you know. But with Susumu, it's obviously not mad pash, but he is still being so awesome.

Of course, I like how in the story, it's no guarantee if you leave yourself wide open, make yourself vulnerable, admit your feelings, that the other party will reciprocate (see all main characters). But at least you'll know where you stand and proceed from there.

Of course, it's not like that, because he had a reason for cutting off communication but can't bear to lose her. But she doesn't know that.
ETA: So she grabs Susumu and walks off. And he is just left standing there. Quite a parallel with Susumu's story. Of course, I like how in the story, it's no guarantee if you leave yourself wide open, make yourself vulnerable, admit your feelings, that the other party will reciprocate (see all main characters). But at least you'll know where you stand and proceed from there.
ETA: OMG! Nishida! Sees everything. And looks very sorry for Domyouji.

In the manga, her Dad was fired (I don't remember if it was by D's Mom but I think it was). And they took Susumu with them and she was the only one left because she was finishing school. She moved to a ratty apartment but the landlord kicked her out on instigation of Domyouji's Mom. Domyouji went looking for her (in this awesome scene) because he couldn't find her and was freaking out and then told her she would stay in his house (his Mother wasn't there at the time). And the batty old housekeeper (who is sort of the closest thing he has to a parent) that Momster left there was all 'huh, I don't like freeloaders in the house so are you too proud to work?' and Domyouji was appalled but Makino was of course pissed off and told that she will totally work her way (Batty Housekeeper is awesome and was totally testing to see what kind of girl Makino was).
Anyhoo, she ended up being a maid at Domyouji's house (and had to wake him up in the morning, heeee) and that is actually when he had the Saturn Nekclace made and he called her out to look at the stars and gave it to her and asked her to go out with him (for probably a gazillionth time) and she said that what if she only likes him a tenth of what he likes her and he said it's OK. There was kissing and they agreed to a trial dating period of three months to see if she could fall for him (and things went on from there).
But anyway (are you sure you want me to spoil everything), she finally eventually during that time told him she liked him blah blah but evil Domyouji Mom came back and basically blackmailed her into giving Domyouji up so she packed her bags and thus we have the rain scene. Because he saw her standing in the rain and came out to find out what's wrong and she told him she never liked him and she lied earlier blah blah blah basically the gist of the conversation was to leave his heart into a million itty-bitty pieces.
The necklace returning thing came later (one of my very favorite scenes in Meteor Garden, the Taiwanese adaptation) is her giving him the necklace back and he just throws it into the ornamental pond in the park and as soon as he leaves, she is frantically looking through the pond for it, and Rui (who in that version was not chasing her) is helping her look.

So, Rui congratulated him. Remember? So don't be too angry at Rui. I'd Be fed up with Tsukasa a long time before this point if I was in that situation.

To me, it's just one of those things you do, if you are a friend. Because you realize the potential of something like this to wreck a friendship.
I am not saying Rui should always supress his feelings or what not. But I really don't think he went about it the right way. I really didn't care for his behavior. Not in regards to Makino, because hey, she is the girl he likes, he is entitled to proceed to get her. But in regards to Domyouji, who is supposed to be a close friend.
But YMMV.

oh, and i'm not liking rui's involvemnt in this anymore. he needs to be the "friend on the side, advice giver dude" again. that role suits him much better than being the love rival. cause i don't wanna dislike him. but if he keeps going after makino i might start hoping for his disappearance

Date: 2007-02-04 03:04 am (UTC)ETA: OMG! The angst! This is supposed to be my fluffy show! Yeah, right. But that whole conversation with Rui and Domyouji, so heartbeaking. And Domyouji picking up that heavy vase and crashing it down on the lower level (breaking the table) and then walking off, and basically punching whoever crosses his path (fight coordinators, those are some Bollywood fake punches, work harder). And Oh Yeah. Like tatterpunk said in her eps 2-3 recap, "of course he's reverted. He's too unahppy not to." And this is, in some ways, even wrose than the Shigeru engagement. The whole thing is, without the possibility and hope of Makino in his life, the boy just falls apart: there is nothing for him and he doesn't know how to deal with that except lashing out.
can i say i was squeeing the entire time as i read this but yeah if tsukasa is sooooo jealous about a rui and tsukushi kiss he should have taken her and kissed her in a passionate way *stares dreamily*. and yeah without tsukushi in tsukasa's life his kinda out of control and she is his center.

ETA: OK, this is weird. For some reason my screen got halved and stretched weirdly in my MPC Player. I can still get normal file in VLC Player which is bizarre. Boooo. I much prefer MPC. That happened to me too. I almost had a heart attack. It's was about 6am and I was swearing. GAH. The previews are killer!!! I watched whole previews with my mouth wide open...I'm dead tired and have no idea if this made sense. Sorry if not. I need to get some sleep and try not to go crazy..

I do have five different players installed so I hoped it would at least work on one. This is really bizarre as usually MPC is the one that will play anything.

I completely agree! I watched and thought that this scene was adorable, but really, Susumu should look at Domyouji's track record...he's not exactly getting a whole lot of action. Shigeru's kiss does not count. But really, Susumu and Domyouji are so adorable! I cracked up when Domyouji was telling Susumu that the F3 were making him a man while Susumu was in a rose petal bath.
I also loved how Domyouji realized through Susumu and last season flashbacks that he needed to be honest with Tsukushi or else things will never progress. I'm so proud of /super duper excited that Domyouji's finally being honest with Tsukushi in this episode! And hugging next episode....gaaaaahhh!
