Here are more photos of Japan. Imperial gardens and grounds in Tokyo plus a bit of the streetscape on our walk from there to Ginza.

View of the entrance to the grounds:

A bunch of runners are taking a break by a statue next to the moat next to the gardens:

View of the moat:

Moat and outlying buildings:

Entrance which allows visitors. We were for Tokyo for about four days, if you add the time together and we almostnever saw anyone not Asian. The only exception to that was inside the Imperial Grounds. (Someone even asked us for directions, which was adorable but misguided):

Entrance Gate. I love the carving:

It was incredibly green inside:

And I loved the buildings (these aren't used any more):

And the trees were amazing:

Another thing that struck me so much that in incredibly crowded, land=gold Tokyo, the Imperial grounds had so much incredibly huge empty space. I guess you can definitely tell the status by that.

Here is a group exercising:

This is only a small portion:

One of the shiny modern buildings on our walk from Imperial grounds to Ginza:

Streetscape (I like the sign). And yeah, that's Mr. Mousie's back ;)

More streetscape. As a business center, it was totally dead on a weekend morning:

This random store cracked me up, mainly because I have yet to see anyone in New York outside of Brighton Beach, be much into furs. And because New York=style even so far away which is amusing to me, because I used to live there:

Another streetscape:

You can never avoid kitsch. The 'attraction' near a random store:

To be continued...

If you want links to larger size photos in future batches, let me know.

Where are the people? o_O

I love your pictures from the Imperial Palace. They are gorgeous. And such a lovely day you had :). The third picture is breathtaking. You even see Tokyo Tower!

Thanks! It was early in the morning on a weekend and we were walking through purely business district, so not too many people. Don't worry, I have pics of huge crowds later ;)

A lot of things remind me of Singapore and Shanghi

Really? That's so interesting. I guess a lot of Asian cities must look the same. I really want to see Singapore and Shanghi.

Especailly in the more modern areas of the cities. I definetly agree. Singapore is amazing especially if you like eating and shopping. Shanghi is one of my favorate places, there is just so much of everything there.

I love the pics!! ^^ And the you are right, the vast gardens in the Imperial grounds does reflect affluence. The thing with castle grounds is that all over Japan they look pretty similar. The castles I visited in Kyoto had a similar entrances and moats to that you posted :)

Yeah, the castle we saw in Himeji and Kyoto were very similar.
