Hello My Teacher and other awesomeness

walkwithheroes, I am getting a mad yen to rewatch Bali. I think I am a glutton for punishment. That thing is designed to stomp on your heart. But yet, once I finish Hello My Teacher here we come.
Here is a MV with an OST song I love:
Am currently on ep 6 of Hello My Teacher and that drama is so much love. The bit where all the school people decide to throw a fashion show which is basically an excuse to have all the hot boys strut and show off is pretty damn awesome. I loled so hard. But I do love all the bits about the lives of the students.
Also some parts of it are, I swear, like some sort of filmed Shinkumi fanfic. When he takes her to 'meet' his dead mother, and she says she will visit so she won't feel lonely (because he says his Mom was always lonely and waiting for his Dad to come back). Or when he takes his Mom's earrings to give to her but sees her with her suitor and throws them away and walks away.
Or the bit when they are in the hospital and he matter-of-factly says that he envies the little girl who is the niece of his friend (who they visit) because she knows what it's like to be loved. The matter-of-fact way he says it is...guuuh. I hate his family.
And the bit when they get locked up in the closet in the hospital! That's seriously fanfic territory. I adore you, kdrama. And he pretends his phone is broken so they can't get out. And he is having nightmares and she wakes him up and he is crying telling her not to abandon him like his mother did, waiting for someone who would never come (analogizing it with her and the guy she is crushing on. I love kdrama for not being subtle about the whole freudian part of the attraction she has for him). And she is wiping his tears and telling him she won't (though I really don't think she is realizing yet he likes her 'that way.' Poor kid, so needy for love). And he makes her pinky-swear and won't let go and they fall asleep like that, and he wakes up in the morning and she is still asleep and he pauses and leans and kisses her on the cheek. EEEEEE!
You know what I don't like? Kdrama approach to abuse! WTF. Are we really supposed to believe his Dad isn't an abuser but a strict disciplinarian? Because oh, look, he agreed to do the surgery on Tae-In's best friend's niece. And Bori is all 'he likes you, you were disobedient and so he whipped you but now you are straightened out, so it's OK to go home.' WTF!!!! That is one culture gap I have no desire to bridge and I sincerely hope she is only saying it to make him feel better because WTF...

I can't get over how many abuse and (almost)rape stories are cropping in doramas. I feel there must be a cultural explanation and it is not "just because"..
