ETA: Oh God, I am a sick bitch but the scene of Tae Joo shaking and sobbing dryly, fists to his mouth, literally banging his head on the bar? I rewatched it six times.
ETA2: I think I am even sicker than the above would indicate, because the scene of Tae Joo forcing Eun Soo on the bed and kissing her despite her struggling and and keeping on kissing her...it was so wrong and so hot at the same time. (This not being Haou Airen he stops of course). Oh, I am sick and I don't want to be helped. Also, it was totally in character: he has no idea how to act when his emotions are genuinely involved, and he completely lost control and is completely freaking out (she is getting married) and that is the only way he can think of trying to claim her (I wonder if it's tied to the fact that he has always viewed his physicality as the 'most attractive' to others thing about him). He is such a mess. And then he drags her out by the hand and they are on the doorstep in the rain and he says 'I love you. I love you.'
OMG.
OMG.
OMG.
And she walks away and he walks after her in the rain and she turns around and kisses him.
OMG. And they are in the middle of the street and it's not sweet romantic kissing, it's like they are trying to devour to each other, clinging to each other, overwhelmed, not rational.
Oh God. The OTP is so dysfunctional.
And I love it MORE THAN CANDY.
Mmm, chemistry and jealousy and fights. This is one of the most grown-up relationship dramas I've seen.
Also, how ironic. Tae Joo is so good at reading the minds/emotions of spoiled rich ladies, but so clueless about his own. Or someone different, like Eun Soo. He gets all screwed up when emotions are involved. And he ends up lashing out at her because he is so jealous and emotionally off-kilter by his feelings. He is rather a newbie to love. He has no experience and has no idea how to cope.
Oh, how much did I love the scene at the party, when she walks in with Jang Hyuk (Icy Rich Guy) and Tae Joo just devours her with his eyes and of course the second she is free hones in on her and they have another one of those cruel barbed conversations and she walks up to Joon Hyuk and kisses him, and looks straight at Tae Joo and then after a little pause, Joon Hyuk (whom I love btw) kisses her in a second kiss. And Tae Joo keeps watching looking like he is dying inside and remains totally zoned.
Oh, and Rich Bich got slapped. YES.
Eun Soo and Icy Rich Guy are just sweetness and normalcy and would be a good sane relationship. But when Eun Soo and Tae Joo are within 10 feet of each other, the temperature just gets spiked, and they kept staring and staring. It's the no-good hot impossible relationship that you can't ever see ending while you are in it, and after it's over, you can't believe you were ever in.

I like the synchronicity:

JH/ES awwww:

I slurp this stuff up:

Date: 2008-02-12 05:52 am (UTC)There are a few anime scenes I simply MUST introduce you too(specifically in Wolf's Rain and X: The Series...there's another, but I can't recall where it is off the top of my head...Basara has similar stuff once you reach the mid teens and The Scret is out...)

Date: 2008-02-12 06:09 am (UTC)Oh, I am so glad I am not the only one. The scene in the bar was so powerful because it was the composed TJ losing it so much, and it wasn't cinematic pretty loss of composure, just a guy totally falling apart and trapped like some sort of an animal.
Their chemistry is seriously messed up. Every scene they're in together, makes me move closer to the screen...
Oh yes. I feel as if I am in there with them. Like that scene where secondary girl dragged him off to kiss and then ES walked in and saw and his eyes...my God.
And agree on secondaries.

Date: 2008-02-12 10:40 am (UTC)That's the scene I think I mentioned earlier. It's just BEAUTIFUL. No monologue/dialogue, just pure manpain of the extreme caliber and it's just amazing. And he so deserves it, too, because yes, he is clueless but he's also exceptionally cruel to Eunsoo on occasion. It just owns me.
The forcing-on-the-bed-scene is tough to watch and sort of borderline wrong, dramabeans.com had a post about how it was described in the script vs how it turned out on-screen. But yep, also very in-character and makes sense in context. It's obviously Tae-joo boiling over, this love that (Bollywood lyric cliché warning!) drives him quite literally insane and it doesn't make it right but he stops eventually (and I don't think he stops just because Hyo-rin enters, either). And Eun-soo kisses him back eventually, I don't think to condone what he did but because she just loves him so much.
I dl'ed up 11 last night, will watch it tonight & dl ep 12. :)

Yay!
I am on ep 10 and the otp is just so functional together (and so sweet!) but it's like a trainwreck, I am expecting things to go wrong any minute

Date: 2008-02-12 06:59 pm (UTC)What really pulled me into QSS was the intensity of their relationship and the chemistry of the two together. They just can't help themselves, they can't help wanting to the other person and it makes it all the more fascinating. IRL they're that couple that are so wrong for each other because they put each other through constant shit & hurt & pain but can't break up because they are so wrapped up in their passion for the other ... in fiction, however, they're my cup of tea. I don't know why I like dysfunction so much in fiction - maybe because I don't put up with it in real life. heh. ;)

Date: 2008-02-12 07:13 pm (UTC)Exactly, I so totally rewatched that bit this morning. I need help!
you know it can only go downhill from here, right? lol.
Yup. I watch in fascination, anticipation and dread. How adorable was the morning scene though, when he looks for her, half-asleep? OMG.
They just can't help themselves, they can't help wanting to the other person and it makes it all the more fascinating.
So yes. Your rl couple comment is so spot on. They are people who by any rational criterion shouldn't be together: they are incompatible, they hurt each other, they have more 'fit' options, they are both messes in their different ways. And yet they are even more messy apart. Reminds me of Bali a bit, in that way.
