Just finished ep 3 of Que Sera Sera and it's official: I adore this drama and everyone in it.
Why yes, thank you for feeding my oral fixation:

Scattered observations:
1. The colors! I am in love with the color palette of this. Sort of like a visual lollipop. Oh, and clothes! I have yet to hate a single item of clothing on anybody.
2. Eric Mun's sheer hotness continues to rot my brain. I catch myself double-checking my own visual memory and brain, going 'he can't possibly be as hot as I think' but he is. That's the thing, it's more hotness than good looks (though he is goodlooking). He just radiates masculinity and sheer sex appeal. Yowza.
3. Every time the OTP is together the drama (which is already excellent) becomes a bit better: they have excellent chemistry, but it's also fun. And I think he likes her because she doesn't want anything from him and she is the total opposite of all the rich polished ladies he goes out with. Because you get the sense that even though he is good at going out with the rich women (I love the scene in the club when he explained his dating philosophy to his friend), it's a bit of a defensive mechanism and he can't help but get emotionally involved (as witness his behavior with that girl that was going to get married). How cute was the scene when Eun Soo asked him if he felt guilty (long story) and he replied 'a little.' Heeee. He does end up doing nice things for her and her sister on a pretty constant basis which is awesome. Let the inner nice guy out, k?
4. You know you are in a kdrama when you spend the largest chunk of an ep wandering if Rich Bitch (secondary girl, and I shouldn't call her that because I do like her) is sleeping with her brother/half-brother, only to finally figure out that he is a quasi-stepsibling, not related at all. Heh. Though I can't help but ship Rich Bitch and Icy Quasi Sibling (who is hot) though I don't think it will go anywhere despite the awesome kissing scenes. And ooooh, mystery about Icy Quasi Sibling's real dad's demise. Hmmm.
5. KISSING. This drama has a LOT. And yummy, too. My fave being the OTP first one at the end of ep 3, when they are stuck in an elevator, and they had a long discussion on dating and kissing and sex and it was LOLtastic. And he kisses her and is all smug because he proved she never kissed before (despite her claims) and we close with:
Eun Soo (heroine): “That was fun.”
Tae Joo: “What?”
Eun Soo: “It’s fun. Want to do it again?”
and his eyes bug out. LOL. I love you, OTP.
I leave you with:

re: 4. Quasi Sibling is the jerky ex in Kim Sam Soon, right? I barely recognized him with the haircut, which was a total upgrade.
re: 5. I'm pretty new to kdramas, but I loved that Eun Soo asked to kiss again instead of doing the shocked into shyness thing. She's so weird and fun.
In case you're wondering, I found your lj via flist hopping. Hope you don't mind that I added you! I'm excited to find more kdrama people.

2. Yes. Swagger is a good way to describe it.
4. You are right! I was wondering why he looked familiar. Way more awesome in this though.
5. YES.
I also decided I love the very grown up, headgamy relationship Eric has with Secondary Girl.
What's your fave kdrama so far btw?

Date: 2008-02-11 05:20 am (UTC)At this point my favorite is Coffee Prince, partly because it was my first kdrama and partly because Gong Yoo is my celebrity boyfriend of the moment. Also, I'm on of the ones who was totally fine with the post-episode 12 fluff. I'm still looking for another drama that has the couple hook up before the end and has them happy for the rest of the series.
What's Up, Fox? is a close second because of the OTP, though.
I'm reading through your top ten list- is Capital Scandal still your number 1? I haven't seen it yet, but it's in the queue.

Date: 2008-02-11 05:32 am (UTC)Hmmm, other fluffy dramas. I am sure there are some but I tend to stay away from dramas that are too fluffy so the only one that comes to mind is Sweet 18 (summary here (http://dangermousie.livejournal.com/831022.html)).
Oh, and in Capital Scandal, the OTP gets together midway and stays that way. They do have other issues and things to work out though, seeing that it's set during Japanese occupation.
CS isn't my number 1 any more though. Legend has displaced it, and actually became my favorite drama ever (the one it knocked off the list, Taiwanese drama Mars, was actually my fave drama since I first started watching, two+ years ago). Pusher post of it is here (http://dangermousie.livejournal.com/1088790.html). I have no idea if it's your cup of tea, but if you do like epic and period, it's excellent.
Oh, and I highly recommend My Girl. See icon :)

Date: 2008-02-11 04:02 am (UTC)Heee, and I heard about Shinhwa. There is a nekkid shot of them somewhere in the comments to the Yamapi an-an shoot :)

Date: 2008-02-11 05:08 am (UTC)Dialogue from dramas are usually forgettable for me (with a few exceptions), but there is this thing that Tae Joo says near the end which still stays with me and cemented the complexity of his character all the more.
Plus you can't go wrong when the heroine has short hair.

Ooooh, what did he say? I love spoilers!

At the very end, after a bajillion things go to hell in a handbasket, Tae Joo sees Eun Soo again and they have all this small talk. Then, before she leaves, he finally stops her and admits the truth.
Tae Joo: I...I really wanted to meet up with you again. Being able to meet up like this is good enough.
Eun Soo: I'll take my leave.
Tae Joo: Hey...Thanks. It was my first so I was very confused and scared. Really, thank you. This is something I always wanted to say.
And that has stayed with me because it's so very honest, more honest than he is throughout the course of the show. You can really see him grow to that point and that line means so much when viewed in light of all the things he did.

Date: 2008-02-12 02:46 am (UTC)Re: HGD. Yeah, his hotness grows in proportion to his heroism. Just as well, as I would have never bought him as a goofball if they unleashed the proper Kang Ji Hwan hotness on us :)

Date: 2008-02-11 10:04 am (UTC)Eric Mun is so massively dreamy. Mmm I want to picspam him now. Perhaps later today. I cannot believe some people disliked his QSS hairstyle because while I like him with longer hair, QSS-Eric was just face-melting goddamn hotness, no questions asked.
Though I can't help but ship Rich Bitch and Icy Quasi Sibling (who is hot) though I don't think it will go anywhere despite the awesome kissing scenes.
I loved the realization because good god that was one hot kiss, regardless of whether you ship them or not.
