Episode 9 of Hong Gil Dong
was
BEYOND AWESOME.
And not not because GD's new haircut and new dashing robber thing ROCKS.

Proper picspam and meta coming up later but for now:
1. Yi Nok is as adorable as ever
2. Gil Dong makes every hormone in me explode simultaneously and take over my brain
3. I finally really like Chang Hwe (the Prince)
4. Eun Chae SHOULD DIE. I want to smack her in her overprivileged stupid face.
In conclusion: KANG JI HWAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (So different from Capital Scandal. Mmmmm in both though).

Date: 2008-02-08 03:34 pm (UTC)The best part is she is trying to woo him! By being high-maintenance, blackmailing, bossing him and stalkery. WTF.
It wouldn't work as a means of 'flirting' with anyone who isn't already in love with you! (and in that case puts up with your foibles and wants to spoil you). UGH. And the blackmail thing and ordering him to see her home and saying she will come until she gets bored? Oh yeah, that's going to really win him over. Leaving aside everything else, it's not like he has issues about being a (former/runaway) slave. Naaaaah. Never.
God, she is so AWFUL. And then he leaves and she is all 'I don't mean to make him mad.' *stab stab stab, seriously*

Date: 2008-02-09 04:16 am (UTC)As much as I wish that would happen, I doubt it will. That's why I'm rooting for her to get some form of amnesia that causes her to forget any interaction that she's had with Gil Dong and that it lasts for the rest of the drama.
Yes, because being the illegitimate son of an important government official and being in hiding and pretending to be dead so people don't actually come and kill you isn't making his life hard enough as it is.
I really think that Yi Nok should beat the snot out of her when she does find out that Gil Dong is alive and that Creepy Goth Girl knew and didn't tell her.

2. Agree again :)
3. The prince got sooo much cuter in this ep! I was squeeing!
4. She's pissing me off too! GRRR she shouldn't be the one that gets to see HGD!
I'm loving him in this! The promos for the next ep are killing me!
I really liked the chief story about his sister. That was so sad! Nice to see he has depth other than being a perv. :P

Date: 2008-02-08 03:37 pm (UTC)Eun Chae is awful in not telling Yi Nok. She might not know Yi Nok was in love with Gil Dong but she knows Yi Nok is his friend and was frantically searching for him and there she sits, calmly lying into her face, getting ready to go for her meeting with him (poor guy, blackmailed into it. Love the look on his face when he sees her, a sort of 'argh, again?' thing).
She is an idiot anyway, because that is so not the way to win GD over. Everything else aside, he is a grown-up, and she is a spoilt, childish brat.
*OK, sorry for venting*

Date: 2008-02-10 02:23 am (UTC)She really is. She's really pissing me off. I agree, she's really cruel! I love the look on his face when he saw her when he was making the snow man too. :)
Exactly! I really wish she would just disappear. *grrr* Have you seen episode 10 yet? The promo ending for that is killing me.. i'm so tempted to read the spoilers!
No reason to be sorry :) Vent away!

Date: 2008-02-08 12:16 pm (UTC)This episode made me really, really like the Bandit Chief and hope that the Bandit Fan Lady and the Fat Bandit end up together.
Also, the preview for episode 10 made me squeal really loudly. Will Mr. Mousie be around tonight for us to watch episode 10?! Hmmm?

Date: 2008-02-08 03:39 pm (UTC)I really wonder what would happen when Yi Nok discovers her true lineage and the fact that she is (presumptively) rich. I don't think she could truly adjust because being brought up from infancy as a ragamuffin would make her a bigger misfit in the formal society than Gil Dong! Hmmm. You know what the central triangle is reminding me, a bit? The My Girl triangle, only if Yu Rin glommed like mad onto LJK's character instead :)

Date: 2008-02-08 04:36 pm (UTC)LJK's character took forever to realize that Yu Rin didn't really like him and I think that the Emo Prince already knows this. Emo Prince hopes that she'll forget about "dead" Gil Dong, but I don't think he's getting his hopes up.
I can't wait until Yi Nok realizes that she was promised in marriage to Emo Prince!!!!

Date: 2008-02-08 05:15 pm (UTC)secondary female is a huge bitch and extremely manipulative.
UGH. seriously. She is not as bad as other gil in My Girl but that's about the best I can say about her. Plus, early days! Other Girl in MG was not truly mind-bogglingly awful yet by ep 9 either.
I can't wait until Yi Nok realizes that she was promised in marriage to Emo Prince!!!!
Do you think she'll be more upset than about the cobra? :P

Date: 2008-02-08 09:38 pm (UTC)Some thoughts:
- Yi Nok is the most adorkable person ever. She's very sweet and goofy, but there's a maturity about her. She may not 'get' certain things, but she's the type of person that can comfort and understand others, simply by being there.
- Gil Dong remains hot, and is getting hotter. I find it so sad that the people (re: YN) he wants to see are the people (re: his "wife") he can't see. He's certainly getting more mature, maybe even a little hard, but the old GD is still in there.
- The bandits are the best secondary characters ever! Seriously, I love the family vibe that comes from all of them. I also love how GD has a family, the family he always wanted, with them.
- I am also warming up to Chang Hwe aka Emo Prince. He's actually starting to act like a person. Yi Nok has changed him for the better, though I worry that he might do cruel things to try and hang on to her. However, I truely think he's using her as a sub for his dead mother. At least a little bit.
- Loyal Retainer is hilarious. Awesomely so. The scene about YN and the flyers? Ha!
- EC . . . I just. . . I want to kill her. Seriously, she's a selfish bitch. Yeah, she wants to help GD and she wants him to like her, but she goes about everything all backward. And she's so cruel to DG's stupid brother. Oh, and more important she's cruel for keeping YN away from GD. Regardless if she thinks it's what GD wants. . . she has to know that YN more than anyone should get some say in the matter. Or more importantly, EC visiting GD puts him and his crew in more dange than YN would. Sucky, creepy goth girl needs to go. I think she is the worst of any Hong sister's secondary female. The other three had some good in them, but not EC - at least not that I can see.

Date: 2008-02-08 11:14 pm (UTC)Yeah, it's my favorite of kdrama season too, though like you, I also like Robbers (not as much as GD).
Side note: Is it strange that I think a HGD/The Legend hybrid drama would be the best thing ever? Cause I do.]
It would rock.
She may not 'get' certain things, but she's the type of person that can comfort and understand others, simply by being there.
Exactly. She is very good at unconditional love. And very clear about expressing her emotion, which is something that draws deprived from natural emotion being expressed to them and having to hold themselves in (for different reasons) GD and CH.
even a little hard, but the old GD is still in there
Oh yes. I am so dying for the reunion btw!
I also love how GD has a family, the family he always wanted, with them.
You know, I never noticed, but you are right. Yay!
I truely think he's using her as a sub for his dead mother.
As Legend proved with Kiha and Ho gae, one doesn't preclude the other :P
ReL EC. Ugh. Awful. Though to me, not yet as awful as Tennis Girl.

Well, HGD is the best drama of the season. I want it on DVD - now.
It would rock.
It should would. I'm tempted to write one myself. Maybe based on the some other legends. But, I'm writing by HYD/TK/shoujo japanese/korean-'drama' right now.

I agree. I agree. YN is just a very wonderful and beautiful person. And, you know, the actress has really grown in her role. I adored her in Snow Queen, but I think she's gotten better here. The girl expresses raw emotions so well.
I am so dying for the reunion btw!
Oh, you know GD will push here away, to her safe. (Just more proof he loves her.) And then, we'll have to sit and watch the angst. But, these two just have so much chemistry and such a want to be together, that it isn't fair. It's not even a "tru wuv" kind of deal, it's. . . they just want to be with one another. It's one of those relationships that, for what ever reason, the people click and just have to be with one another.
You know, I never noticed, but you are right. Yay!
I know. They are all very cute. Lovely family.
As Legend proved with Kiha and Ho gae, one doesn't preclude the other :P
No. It can be very. . . um. . . yeah. Emo Prince needs to just find himself a nice girl. Even if he was supposed to marry YN. And you know, it's strange because I think if things had been different, YN and Emo Boy would have been happy together. Everything happens for a reason.
ReL EC. Ugh. Awful. Though to me, not yet as awful as Tennis Girl.
Tennis Girl never bothered me that much, because he was never interested in her. I don't think they ever really hung out. I mean, even when they were dating he seemed rather indifferent to her.
But with EC. . . she's just stuck to GD like glue! It's so annoying. And, it kind of sucks that the Hong sisters seem to want to make EC likeable and someone that could be a love interest for GD. But, really EC just gets more and more unlikeable by the episode.
