Korea does Lord of the Rings. I think I just might die here

Just when I think Korea cannot surprise me any more with its awesomeness, it goes and does it again.

I found this German-language trailer for The Legend, a 24-episode Korean epic fantasy series that aired earlier in 2007 and my mind is blown. Swords! Armies! Magic and sacrifice! Design and look that would put any movie to shame. My eyeballs are only staying in their sockets because they want to watch this. This is amazing.

I know they could pour money into it because it starred Bae Yong Joon, arguably the biggest Korean star out there, but still...my mind is blown. Blown. Blown.

Also, why did nobody inform me of this in The Legend:

OMG! The armor! And the sweetness! And the UST! And the way she hugs him from behind and he stares at her.

The sole reason I was refraining from watching The Legend, a Korean fantasy series, was because I thought there was no OTP, but OMG, the awesomeness! I don't know if they are the canon OTP but I ship them.

I must watch this.

Also, the same fan who made the trailer for The Legend made a German-language trailer for The Emperor of the Sea and oh, oh OH OH why didn't I listen to meganbmoore sooner???? It looks incredible. Epic and romantic and with swords.

How come Korea's TV dramas look more sumptuous than our movies?

EotS is easily the best kdrama I've seen(even though Damo is my favorite) You held off because IT'S LONG. But worth it. Did you notice that Young Jang Bogo is also Young Hwangbo Yoon?(there's a reason: TPTB saw Damo and went "we should do our epic historicals like this, too")

I think Legend has a fairly centric epic OTP, but I'm not sure...I'm staying fairly unspoiled for it.

And it's "Korea does fantasy wuxia" thankyouverymuch.

I am so getting both EotS and The Legend ASAP. (Btw, the Lobbyist with SIG has just finished subbing :))

For tonight, I shall sate my wuxia craving with Romance of Red Dust. I have mislaid the DVD box somewhere (I swear, I found every DVD but that) but luckily I had the first disc separately so I think I will be OK :)

I really need wuxia/period kdrama binge.

They are the canon OTP, yes (reincarnation-style, too!), but the romance doesn't develop until later on... I'm about 9 or 10 episodes in and while they've met and interact often, the ship hasn't really started yet. The show is quite heavy on politics, which isn't bad, but I find it difficult to sit through an entire episode at once... which is rare for me, I tend to marathon things I like.

I like politics in my show provided there is also fighting and a single storyline :) I use ff button almost for all dramas though :)

Yeah, Legend was a really terrific drama. I obsessed a lot over it while it was airing... the only thing that stops me from really gushing about it, was that I was disappointed by the ending. Not that it ended badly or anything, but I guess I expected something a little more... epic. And yeah, the OTP is awesome. I really grew to love the actress, and can't wait to see her in more dramas! ^_^
