Because mentioning "Mars" to katranna reminded me.

Mars is probably heaven if you are a 12 year old girl. It's also the only manga I've ever seen (a lot of things happen when you are stuck in B&N bored and wonder into the YA section).

The thought of cartoon beefcake amuses me way too much, so here is the "Oh, he is angsty and messed-up and gorgeous and actually kinda rich and only needs the love of a good woman" hero ("they are like so star-crossed and so totally angsty like OMG lolz.") in a pose that makes me go: "Hmmmmm? Is there a cartoon sex ring I am not aware about?" Also, no underwear must really chafe and that pose is murder on the shirt buttons.

I just find "Mars" funny because its story is ridiculous, but I used to tease Alex about looking like the hero. He was not a fan.

What is wrong with you?

When I read it in B&N, I knew it was trashy but couldn't stop. It was this delicious guilty pleasure...:D

That is really, really bad for the shirt buttons. The fashionista in me is cringing. The fangirl is extremely happy. He also looks nothing like fanon Draco. The facial structure is off.

MARS is the equivalent of a cheesy romance novel with some decent artwork. I have to be in the mood for shojo to read it and not either start laughing or eye rolling.

To tell the truth though, just about every anime bishounen gets a beefcake pose or two (or seven hundred depending on the series). Manga artists like drawing their characters in different situations. (Even a character named Zelgadis who is part demon/human/golem and has skin made out of rock got a couple of alluring shots as publicity for his series).

And yes, he does look like Fanon Draco, though there is another character in a series I read and watch who looks a great deal like Fanon Draco too, only the more sarcastic version.

Well, I must say that even some of the beefcake gets dangerously close to being indecent sometimes, though most of it is just clothes ripping (as seen above). Underwear also seems nonexistant.

This is Sanzo, the short tempered, completely degenerate priest from Saiyuki. He's a favorite of mine just because he's so unapologetically nasty. He reminds me of Draco, only older and meaner.

I'll also point out that Sanzo never wears anything close to those outfits in the series. He's a Buddhist priest and always wears these huge white robes and a headdress. The closest he comes to looking like either of those pictures in the series is when he takes down the top of his outer robes because he wears a skin tight black undershirt and fitted gauntlets underneath. It's just another example of manga artists playing around with their characters. It's sort of a tradition that drawings like that show up between chapters in a manga or the break in an anime episode.
