Jotei: we are in your brain, killing off your braincells

After filmi_girl came over and we had a blast watching Capital Scandal (yes, I love it enough to rewatch it ASAP and we will continue tomorrow), I decided I was too exhausted to watch Snow White so put in something stupid. This 'stupid' is Jotei, a Japanese drama about a high school student who decides to achieve revenge on the high and mighty by becoming top hooker. And selling her virginity expensively. Yes. I didn't know hard drugs were legal in Japan, but clearly they must be because that is what the writers are on.

You guys, Jotei is SO stupid.

My braincells die just watching it.

I mean, barely three minutes in, and our heroine has already fondled a statue's genitalia and declared something is 'missing' because bits have been chipped off.

And told guy classmate that 'oh, you have it too!' and added to his understandably WTF reaction 'it's because I have no father, so these are new to me.'

She must have very odd understanding of familial relationships.

Did I mention that ep one has two separate rape attempts on heroine by two separate men. One of whom is our gangster hero, who initially plans to sell her into sex trade but changes his mind when she explains she wants to sell her virginity expensively. This creates TRUE LOVE in him.

Did I mention that the leading lady can't act?

This has got to be the most dreadful drama I have ever seen. And I love it. Unlike merely boring twdrama Peach Girl or similar, this is so ridiculous it transgresses 'bad' and becomes so atrocious it forms total entertainment.

I feel like cleaning my head with bleach. And yet I can't stop.

After this, I need to watch something really good in jdrama. Probably Rondo, One Million Stars, Ice World, Love Revolution or Hotaru No Hikari (sp?).

SO STUPID. SO FUN.

GW is...something else. I'm just not sure WHAT. It actually is interesting, and despite all the systems malfunctions, they all make sense, even though there are so many ofthem. It just has insane characters, even for an anime.

Honestly? I'll be surprised if you like her. Even keeping in mind how generous we both are with anime/manga heroines.

I could have grown to like her, up until she started yelling at and scolding the nice boy who saved her when the crazy boy was about to shoot her in the head.

I think I want to see this MV...yet I fear that I will recognize clips and know what's going on and wonder what the maker was thinking.

I can deal with all sorts of crazy and messed up, and I can actually see where Heero/Relena would work handled differently...but the execution is amazingly "WTF? THIS IS THE MAIN CANON PAIRING??"

You know though, the lead (Kato Rosa) does get better. She pulls off some decent stuff in the final episode, I thought. If anything, watching Matsuda and her grow as actors is fun as well as the crack. ;)

I am not very demanding of my leads (just as well, considering how many idol dramas I watch) and especially not in a drama like this, which is hardly a threat to Kimura Takuya et al in terms of thespian art and plot.

So I am actually amused by the woodenness. A really profound actress would probably be all wrong for this anyhow.

Forget the WTF plot, forget the sketch factor, forget the ridic dresses, focus on Matsuda Shota looking (slightly greasy) but unbelievably hot. With a little bit of fast-forwarding, I found Jotei not too hard to get through :D.
