Pop Japan Travel (www.popjapantravel.com), which focuses on Japanese pop culture, is offering two new trips to Tokyo, both from April 11 to 18.
The Fujoshi Paradise Yaoi Tour caters to fans of yaoi, a comic-book genre created mostly by women that depicts love between two men. Participants shop along Otome Road, where yaoi manga stores abound; visit yaoi-themed cafes; and talk with Makoto Tateno, a prominent yaoi artist.
The Tokyo Darkside Goth-Loli Tour focuses on the fashion trend of combining Victorian and Rococo styles with 21st-century punk and girly girl movements, as above. The trip features shopping; a visit to Harajuku, a young and trend-setting neighborhood; and a meal at the Victorian-themed Christon Cafe.
Both trips cost $2,198, and include hotels, activities and round-trip air fare from Los Angeles.

Date: 2007-10-15 06:22 pm (UTC)And it's not just a yaoi cafe. The tour goes to Harajuku on Sunday morning, to Meiji Shrine, Odaiba, Ginza, Ueno, Asakusa, Akihabara, Nakano and the Tsukiji fish market. We're also doing a day tour of Hakone as an option, plus a free day. And yes, there's a day of activities focused on boys' love and yaoi. We're going to Ikebukuro, two cafes, and to a dance show (Roppongi Kingyo -- http://www.kingyo.co.jp/ ) that I've been to myself several times and find extremely entertaining. For only five full days in Tokyo, that's a lot to do. (And a relatively small portion of it is focused on yaoi.)
