So, no surprise to anyone that this week's eps of Nice Guy were excellent.

The end of ep 15 and the scene is so tender and hopeful and romantic:

The scene at the end of ep 16, which breaks my heart:

I really do think Maru knows Eun Gi has remembered everything and is willingly offering himself up for the knife (so to speak). And that is what makes that last kiss so heartbreaking - he knows it's good bye, he knows it doesn't mean what Eun Gi ostensibly means, and he still kisses her with all his heart and soul, he is still utterly vulnerable and open. If she wanted him to carve his heart out of his chest, he would do it, to expiate and because he loves her and because he doesn't expect anything good in life. Oh Maru, I really hope he has a chance for a fresh start at the end, hope and happiness. I've seen people wonder if he will lose his memories at the end (that surgery he keeps postponing has a chance of that) and I might be the only one rooting for that - he really needs a clean slate, without the burden of his past and his guilt. And if that is the only way to get it, so be it.

Ep 22 of Five Fingers was delicious.....

Not much shipping by now due to all the revenge, so I'l take what I can get. Mmmm, Ji Ho to the rescue!

I have to say, if JH had any tiny sliver of reluctance at destroying his family, that incident ended it. When he was in YR's room and staring at her, I was totally freaked out. (Does nobody in that house lock their doors, btw?) And then the way he orchestrated YR's public confession he is a murderess and his face!!! He is terrifying now. Since I am pretty sure he is YR's sun, this is all so tragic and Yoo Manse should burn in hell.

There's a part of me that agrees with your sentiment, the part of me that just wants peace and serenity for his soul and heart and body.

But raises the question of 'what about Eun-Gi', would it be easier on her too if they could start with a clean slate, assuming she 'forgives' him... I don't think she's about to go vengeful on him anyway, despite the 'scary' ending. Because if it's a parallel to what took place in Japan, then the parallel has to extend to Maru's inability to "use" her in the end.

All I know is that I really, REALLY wouldn't want to be in Lee Kyung-Hee's shoes right now.

I think she will forgive him. The collision gave him a life-threatening illness and he still helped her. If that is not grounds for forgiveness, I don't know what is.

I was probably ruined by too many 'and then they woke up from the dream/forgot about all their adventures/went to the land of the undying' endings as a child to appreciate amnesia as a way to jump-start your life again. I know Maru suffered a lot and would probably be unburdened by losing all his memories, but going through what JH did to him and what he and EG did to each other was a crucible that shaped a lot of who he is today, and for better or worse, I feel like deleting that would be to diminish who Maru is as a person.

This is classic YMMV, right?

Therapy, though. Lots of therapy would definitely be in order. (FOR EVERYBODY!)

They could keep therapists happy forever.

Yeah, I honestly think Maru (and EG) would be better off without memories.

Ugh, yes! I think Maru losing his memory in the surgery or whatever would be the only way to logically end up with at least a semi-happy ending. It's a bit cliche (dramas like Hello God have done similar things before) but at least it'd provide a nice parallel in that Eungi would protect him in the same way he protected her. Not to mention I would love to see Maru gain some sort of the same happiness Eungi got back with her amnesia. He's happy right now, sure, but even then it's a careful, wary sort of happiness that he believes he doesn't deserve. I would love to see a full smile, with teeth, like you see him doing in flashbacks pre-Jaehee (I don't think Maru has ever smiled w/ his mouth open since).

And I totally agree that Maru knows. There's a theory going around that he's the one who left the envelope in her office, which would of course be heartbreaking. I'm not used to him being so vulnerable. :(

Yes, it makes me think of Crazy for You, where the hero eventually lost his memory and it was fine because his past was so horrible. This is what I think goes here, too.

While I agree that it's heartbreaking, I'm sort of in love with this theory because I think it would make sense for Maru to offer Eungi that kind of fatal gift. On one hand it brings everything out in the open and possibly kickstarts her memories of that awful moment. On the other hand that memory leaves him completely vulnerable to Eungi's anger and hate. So for him to put himself in that kind of vulnerable position after everything he's been through, says a lot about how much he loves her, how much he thinks he owes her. I really hope Eungi forgives him because it would be such a waste.

Yup, it's definitely bittersweet. I hate that he's so vulnerable but at the same time I also hope it's true because it would make a lot sense-- if it's true, it's definitely an indicator of how much he's willing to do for Eungi and how far he's come. Of course part of this has to do with the fact that he really doesn't give a shit about himself or what happens to him so long as Eungi gets what she needs, which is the saddest part.

I also don't think that Eun Gi will go the path of revenge - though I think she deserves to have her chance to payback what JH and Maru did to her (though I think with Eun Gi's double suicide attempt she already did enough against Maru). BUT I think she will not be able to go vengeful on Maru because she loves him and though her anger is stronger atm, in the end she can't leave him behind and she can't live without him. :) About JH I'm not so sure... but Eun Gi will not play dirty tricks - her honesty is too prominent in her character. She is a bitch, yes - but she is a bitch who doesn't play dirty.

I really want JH crushed. The thing is, I don't think even then she will get why - she is so sociopathic.

Ugh I hate it when things get romantic, because now I actually WANT these two to have a happy ending (and the dialogue before the episode 15 kiss had me pretty close to swooning, even though I wasn't really ok with the fact that it still came from a place of Eun-ki not knowing everything, the emphasis on thsi being real compared to before....UNF).

Episode 16 just brought the tears as far as Maru and Eun-ki were concerned, plus bonus Good Friend Jae-gil <3. That scene in voiceover just made me want to grab everyone in that house out of the screen and give them a hug, poor bbs. And I couldn't help noticing that Eun-ki did close her eyes for the last kiss before opening them again.....which tells me that, despite her very justifiable anger and potential plans to have his head for the whole Jae-hee deception, she still loves him. I just wonder if she can see past Maru's ultimate deception, which was the big fat lie on Breakup Beach that he loved Jae-hee and not her.

Ooooh, I love your interpretation of her first closing her eyes.
