So, no surprise to anyone that this week's eps of Nice Guy were excellent.
The end of ep 15 and the scene is so tender and hopeful and romantic:

The scene at the end of ep 16, which breaks my heart:

I really do think Maru knows Eun Gi has remembered everything and is willingly offering himself up for the knife (so to speak). And that is what makes that last kiss so heartbreaking - he knows it's good bye, he knows it doesn't mean what Eun Gi ostensibly means, and he still kisses her with all his heart and soul, he is still utterly vulnerable and open. If she wanted him to carve his heart out of his chest, he would do it, to expiate and because he loves her and because he doesn't expect anything good in life. Oh Maru, I really hope he has a chance for a fresh start at the end, hope and happiness. I've seen people wonder if he will lose his memories at the end (that surgery he keeps postponing has a chance of that) and I might be the only one rooting for that - he really needs a clean slate, without the burden of his past and his guilt. And if that is the only way to get it, so be it.
Ep 22 of Five Fingers was delicious.....
Not much shipping by now due to all the revenge, so I'l take what I can get. Mmmm, Ji Ho to the rescue!

I have to say, if JH had any tiny sliver of reluctance at destroying his family, that incident ended it. When he was in YR's room and staring at her, I was totally freaked out. (Does nobody in that house lock their doors, btw?) And then the way he orchestrated YR's public confession he is a murderess and his face!!! He is terrifying now. Since I am pretty sure he is YR's sun, this is all so tragic and Yoo Manse should burn in hell.

But raises the question of 'what about Eun-Gi', would it be easier on her too if they could start with a clean slate, assuming she 'forgives' him... I don't think she's about to go vengeful on him anyway, despite the 'scary' ending. Because if it's a parallel to what took place in Japan, then the parallel has to extend to Maru's inability to "use" her in the end.
All I know is that I really, REALLY wouldn't want to be in Lee Kyung-Hee's shoes right now.

Therapy, though. Lots of therapy would definitely be in order. (FOR EVERYBODY!)

Date: 2012-11-04 03:26 am (UTC)And I totally agree that Maru knows. There's a theory going around that he's the one who left the envelope in her office, which would of course be heartbreaking. I'm not used to him being so vulnerable. :(

Date: 2012-11-04 08:13 am (UTC)While I agree that it's heartbreaking, I'm sort of in love with this theory because I think it would make sense for Maru to offer Eungi that kind of fatal gift. On one hand it brings everything out in the open and possibly kickstarts her memories of that awful moment. On the other hand that memory leaves him completely vulnerable to Eungi's anger and hate. So for him to put himself in that kind of vulnerable position after everything he's been through, says a lot about how much he loves her, how much he thinks he owes her. I really hope Eungi forgives him because it would be such a waste.

Date: 2012-11-04 04:36 pm (UTC)Episode 16 just brought the tears as far as Maru and Eun-ki were concerned, plus bonus Good Friend Jae-gil <3. That scene in voiceover just made me want to grab everyone in that house out of the screen and give them a hug, poor bbs. And I couldn't help noticing that Eun-ki did close her eyes for the last kiss before opening them again.....which tells me that, despite her very justifiable anger and potential plans to have his head for the whole Jae-hee deception, she still loves him. I just wonder if she can see past Maru's ultimate deception, which was the big fat lie on Breakup Beach that he loved Jae-hee and not her.
