Random things...
Oct. 27th, 2012 05:02 pm1. Check out this gorgeous, shippy Faith MV:
2. I am currently following three dramas (Faith, Nice Guy, Five Fingers). This is pretty much a perfect number because it's enough to sate my drama love while giving me enough free time for other things. And it looks like the 'three' pattern will continue for the rest of the year. Faith ends next week (sob!) but I Miss You starts that same week (different channel. I have no interest in Faith's replacement drama - it's very much not my thing). Five Fingers will be replaced by Cheonamdong Alice, which I need to watch because Park Shi Ho! and Nice Guy is being replaced by Jeon Woo Chi, which I definitely plan to check out due to my love of fantasy and plot, and just hope Cha Tae Hyun will surprise me and make my dislike of him disappear.
3. In addition to the above, the only (possibly) winter dramas on my radar are:
* This Winter The Wind Blows - the dark romance melodrama from the amazing Noh Hee Kyung, with Jo In Sung, Song Hye Kyo, Kim Bum, Park Eunji. The only way I am missing checking it out is if I get hit by the bus
* IRIS 2 - I get to see Jang Hyuk and Lee Da Hae romance each other again. Everything else is immaterial.
* That rumored Kang Ji Hwan/Hwang Jung Eum drama the plot of which sounds insane. But only if KJH is on board (it's by the people who made History of a Salaryman and humorous/satirical drama and I don't mix normally).
* Yoon Sang Hyun as an ahjusshi idol one. Because in my head it's a drama all about Oska :P Plus, I think the female lead in this one is much younger than the male lead (because male lead has been in a coma for forever and still thinks he's a twenty-something) and I want that, if for no other reason than as a counterpoint to endless noona romances out there.
* The Legend of the Half-Blood - Lee Seung Gi/Suzi sageuk fantasy. I mean!
Sadly, Joo Won's upcoming drama came off the list the moment they cast Choi Kang Hee. I am just going to pretend that drama doesn't exist. (Though people who keep complaining because RL Joo Won is babyish/immature thus the ten-year-difference is exacerbated must be people who have somehow managed to skip Gaksital, Ojakgyo Brothers and Baker King - i.e., every drama Joo Won has ever made. In all of them he has played dark, manly characters older than his age. His RL persona and his on-screen one are 180 degrees different).
4. I've seen interest in sageuks spike on my flist due to Faith. So, if you haven't yet watched Chuno (also known as Slave Hunters), I am totally here to push it. It's arguably my favorite sageuk, and follows Lee Dae Gil (Jang Hyuk), an aristocrat fallen on hard times who became a slave hunter, as he chases Song Tae Ha (Oh Ji Ho), an unjustly enslaved general who goes on the run to fulfill a secret mission. And then there is Un Nyun (Lee Da Hae), a woman who ends up being the love of both of their lives. This is pretty much a perfect drama in every way. And Tae Ha/Un Nyun- the aristocrat-turned-slave and slave-turned-aristocrat, were my favorite period drama OTP until the Faith OTP knocked them off that spot. (Song Tae Ha remains my favorite kdrama hero, however). Have a great unspoilery, trailer-type MV. The first half focuses on the fights etc and the second on the emotional beats of the story:
And a shippy MV (though, excellent though it is, it doesn't have all my favorite shippy scenes).
FWIW, this is one of the only two kdramas Mr. Mousie has ever watched.

Date: 2012-10-28 02:09 am (UTC)and Jeon Woo Chi. I think me and fantasy sageuks are just not gonna be friends. I mean I am gonna try my best to finish faith and arang but while I might manage to finish Arang I dont know if I'll get through Faith anytime soon tbh -_- (and I still havent seen the last two eps of ttby lol) Looking forward to This Winter The Wind Blows hopefully it has a less languid pace than Padam Padam. I mean the emotional scenes in Padam Padam were amazing. but I felt like I wasnt able to maintain my enthusiasm about it and I mean I STILL want to know what happened but I cant find recaps anywhere for it -_-
I never saw the original IRIS. Even though I enjoy action I usually like light hearted and fun action fair not the intense/deadly serious kind. Who knows why? So I probably wont watch IRIS 2 even though the main couple is a definite draw.
Conversely I am SO ready for that Kan ji hwan drama, he does comedy well and I enjoyed History of a Salaryman ALOT. I did have some reservations to where they took the story at the end but it wrapped itself up nicely I think. (Hopefully the ladies in this new drama get to do a little more this time and the only powerful woman isnt portrayed as an insane power hungry harpy -_-)
Yoon Sang Hyun is one of the few ajusshi actors I get rly excited about (what can I say? I like em young and pretty/cute lol) because he's so funny and this character is pretty much osaka part deux and I LOVED oska! (but who didnt rly?) So yeah I am watching this and I hope its as hilarious as it sounds. (not a big fan of ajusshi romances just cause like I said I like young cute guys but yoon is pretty charming so I dont mind rly if it happens here. if anything she might be more mature than he is XD)
I like Lee Seung Gi and Suzy but once again me and fantasy sageuks arent really bff and this premise doesnt rly catch my fancy. But if any of the above dramas fail I might fall back on this one.
Also I'm still very excited for Joo Won's drama and according to what I've read they will be acknowledging the age difference, ie there is gonna be tweaks from the movie version of the story so it fits this new cast better. Also I dont share the revulsion and dislike of Choi Kang hee everyone else does. I mean she doesnt seem that old and ugly to me? She's not one of my fave actresses but I enjoyed her in Protect the Boss and she sounds like she has a similar character here so I'm sure she'll do fine plus this setup is totally my thing so I cant wait! (Alas Jung Ryeo Won IS one of my fave actresses so I'll probably force myself to check out King of Dramas even though I have a feeling i'll be bored and I dont care for either the primary or secondary male leads -_-)

Date: 2012-10-28 02:16 am (UTC)I finished PadamPadam and liked it through to the end but yeah, no idea about recaps.
I love JRW but King of Dramas is a big no for me in every other way, from the cliche-beyond-cliche story, to the male lead (both the actor and the character) and to the fact that 'about dramas' storyline has repeatedly been done excellently elsewhere. I figure that being one of about 6 people who watched and loved Ja Myung Go clears me as far as JRW fandom goes, for not checking out KoD.

Date: 2012-10-28 03:12 am (UTC)Tbh, mentally, theoretically, I want to watch Chuno, but I can never watch a full-on 100% sageuk.. it always has to be a fusion sageuk of some sort, else I can never sit through it.
Also, question: Does anyone have any fight-y/epic-y/funny faith mvs, besides the shippy ones? I dunno, I just want a laugh or an adrenaline rush~
And goddammit, the stupid tablet won't record my song >.<;;

Date: 2012-10-28 10:46 am (UTC)Other than that, everything in your list interests me EXCEPT the ahjusshi idol drama.
Another drama I'm VERY excited about, which premieres TOMORROW: "Can We Get Married?"
THE LEADS! The lead actress from Playful Kiss (she was the only good thing about that drama) and the lead actor from Shut Up Flower Boy Band!! And good kissing!
This is a cable drama, of course. And my expectations for cable dramas are now quite high.
