But I was bored and restarted The Moon That Embraces The Sun (started with ep 6) and am shockingly enjoying it. I think the fact that I now know its limitations (romantic fairy tale, no more no less) helps immensely, as does the fact that I am now removed from the mania and the psycho ratings.

I am not even loathing Kim Su Hyun (!!!!!) maybe my phobia of him is finally conquered (i can never drool over him as he still looks much younger than his actual age and I am not into the baby face thing, but I am enjoying watching him on screen).

A goo drama it is not, but it is actually entertaining me.

Clearly day of miracles. We will see how long it lasts.

ETA: alas, I spoke too soon! How does every secondary character in this manage the feat of being both boring and annoying at once, I have no idea. They are made for the skip button. I dig the romance though. It's pretty much a romance novel in drama form minus the heaving bosoms.

Speaking as someone who enjoyed this show for 15-16 episodes, yay!

I have to admit I totally shipped Yangmyung and Woon ... never mind the official OTP :P

LOLOL Woon is hawt. I find Yangmyung boring. JIW's career choices have been inexplicable to me - except for Return of Iljimae, I've disliked every single thing he's been in - either the drama didn't work me or the character or both.

I agree, I don't know why but there is always something off. Besides my gaydar is going off like crazy with him, I don't know why he seems to have almost no on-screen chemistry with most of his female leads. Unlike Lee Jun Ki (where my gaydar has been going off since he started JG Style, for his fans) who has on-screen chemistry with his female leads in SPADES, JIW just ... either he overhams or his character pines away and you are not buying it because it doesn't work even though he is a good actor and his dying scene in TMTETS .. I was crying because with a different script his character could have shone very well.
I have started Flower Boy Ramen Shop and he has more bromance going on in the short scenes with Jae RIm (who played Woon in TMTETS) than with his supposed OTP.

I have pretty much no gaydar to speak of (the one person who pings it is Jang Geun Seok because...do I really need to explain it?). I did think JIW had great chemistry with the female lead in FBRS, despite not caring for the drama as a whole...

Oh yes JGS also sets off my gaydar. When I first started out to watch doramas it didn't but nowadays where I also watch BTS and interviews and some other stuff where these actors are 'themselves' ... yup, sometimes I think damn he is more effimate than me LOL

I have only watched ep1 & 2 of FBRS so I didn't notice the chemistry yet.

OK, now I am curious - who else sets off your gaydar? I mean, I know for sure someone like Hyun Bin or Lee Byung Hun or Lee Min Ho or Ji Hyun Woo aren't (i.e. people who have public relationships) but for most of them, I have no idea.

Kang Dong-Won ... as much as it saddens me because OH GOSH, this guy ... if he were a couple of years older I would be in Korea in a heart beat if he played on our team which I'm about 95% sure he doesn't.
And from the Taiwanese actors, definitely Joe Cheng - despite the long make out session with Ariel Lin in They Kiss Again.

I can't put my finger on it ... it is just that ... when I watch them in interviews, or in some other format where they are themselves, they set my gaydar off. Good thing not during their dramas or movies LOL

Yup, totally agreed on Joe Cheng (not too familiar with KDW).

I actually watched all of it, but I remember so little of it. If any drama made me wish that I had those hours back in my life, this drama is definitely it. The only good thing that came of it? Yeo Jin Goo.

Haha...I disliked everything at this drama beside the OTP. Maybe I should try again getting through with skipping everything except them?

BTW...I started Gloria. Too bad I still have to wait for 20 episodes. No seeders -_-. Watched first 3 episodes and it is quite addictive. I prefer the surely future couple DA & YS. The actor of the main couple resembles to Mr. Robot of Wild Romance...at least for me.

I love kim soo hyun AND jung il woo and even that couldnt save this drama for me. but then i guess we've established i'm not great with fantasy sageuks. but honestly this one was such a dud. and I enjoy fairytale set ups but this one was crap even for a fairytale. since my fave fairytales always had proactive heroines and unfortunately the heroine in this drama was passive and lacked fire IMO. Her child self was so fiercely intelligent and brave and yet the adult version is nothing like this, wtf happened? I mean I hate to say it but the child portions were the best part of this drama. I think that the child actress is a better actress than han ga is frankly but even tho KSH and JIW are good actors I was more invested with their child incarnations. esp in the case of the prince character. Its such a shame cause I think there WAS potential in this drama but it totally missed it by a mile.

I am only enjoying Kim Su Hyun in the adult parts (I know, I know, the world is ending! But I think this might finally cure my aversion. Though he still looks about 12 and is thus as attractive as a wall to me. I want my period drama heroes looking more like Jang Hyuk and less like an adolescent). JIW is a good actor but Yangmyung is about the most thankless role there is. I actually don't like any of his dramas post Return of Iljimae though I think he did a good job in all of them.

Han Ga In? Oy. Very beautiful, excellent taste in men in real life :P but as an actress, I've seen more interactive rocks. She's not expressive and has zero chemistry with any of her putative love interests (she never has any chemistry with her costars, with the exception of Kim Jae Wook in Bad Guy and we all know how that went). Shockingly, the age difference isn't as in evidence as I thought it would be, but that is about all I can say.

but.... Han Gain rock the part where she is not gloom and doom, i still remember her first appearance as no name (wol) with Seol and her post memory recovered when she is going to unleash hell... but then again, the writer just want to see her cry and just be beautiful. sigh...
