Behind the cut are way too many caps of my favorite scene so far (and possibly one of my favorite romantic scenes, period). It is scenes like this that are the reason for my love for YSH dramas. Nobody conveys the giddiness, nervousness, all-absorption and yes, hormones, of first love the way he does. I know I used the phrase 'cinematic swoon' before, but it really is what that is.
I think YSH dramas almost do not need dialogue - all that is necessary is conveyed through images and music (and what a soundtrack this has - I love it!). In this scene, there is dialogue, but everything that is essential is told through glances, and body positions and scenery.
I've seen complaints about the pacing and the acting/characters and I honestly do not understand. Sure, it has a different pace than a frenetic romcom and, I will freely acknowledge, it is differently-paced than most modern dramas. But that's the thing - it's a mood piece, a story about a state of being, and I cannot see hurrying it up - it is perfectly paced for what it is trying to do, and it allows each scene to breathe, for each small moment to stand out.
I have no problem with the acting whatsoever - JGS is his excellent self and I may actually become a fan of Yoona. And their chemistry is lovely. As to the characters - I think they come across as achingly real. Would I want to date In Ha in real life? No. He's too much of a shy dreamer and not enough of an alpha doer for my tastes. But is he believable, especially for someone that young? Of course. Plus, it's not as if he was planning to pine in silence forever, it just took him some time to figure things out and steel himself for the unpleasantless that would undoubtedly ensue with all the friends. And Yoon Hee is quiet and reserved but, likewise, I see nothing either unrealistic or unlikeable in her.
