Gorgeous Married People picspam
Aug. 22nd, 2007 06:20 pmOne of the very few celebrity couples I like are Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan, Bollywood superstars which recently got married (their wedding created an INSANE media frenzy, because not only are Aish and Abhi superstars, but Abhi is the only son of Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan, both huge stars themselves. Amitabh is probably the best known BW actor ever).

I mainly like them because they are super pretty, and good actors (in right movies) and have good chemistry together on screen, and oh yeah, being around him makes Aish seem much less than an ice goddess, but instead just a beautiful but warm woman.
Plus, if I didn't like them before, this would do it:
It’s rare to have a Q&A session go on so long that the moderator has to leave. But that’s what happened Tuesday night at India Splendor’s final screening, Guru..."Guru”director Mani Ratnam and stars Aishwarya Rai (looking breathtakingly beautiful in green) and Abhishek Bachchan fielded questions ranging from the message of the movie and its reference to Bachchan’s character taking dowry to what it was like growing up in an “elite” family. And when Lall tried to end the session around 11:30 p.m., the stars said they were willing to continue. At one point Bachchan even told the audience of 300 at the Billy Wilder Theater not to bother with the mics but just shout out their questions.
“You may have thought we were elite, but we were really a middle-class family,” Bachchan said. Whatever his actor parents, Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bhaduri did outside the house, at home they were just Dad and Mom. “And every day we all had dinner together.”
A question about what they liked about each other as an acting couple brought forth a long response from Bachchan to which Rai quipped, “Honey, I’ve already said yes.”
From here.
Pics from real life:

What's a Bolly couple without a song and dance. He dragged her out to join his performance. Gotta love Bolly!

With Amitabh and Jaya:

Abhi, Aish, Jaya, Abhi's sis, Amitabh and Abhi's sis' kids:

Awwww, she is giving him an award:

Have you noticed? She is always either looking at him adoringly (man, he is TALL) or he is looking at her in same fashion, or they are holding hands. AWWWW:

That's like a couple advert :)

Pics from movies:

(from Umrao Jaan. The movie itself was deadly dull, but the stills are awesome).
More Umrao Jaan shots:

Guru:

If you want to check out the couple, separately or together, I recommend (for together):
Guru:, a quasi-arthous fictional biopic of an ambitious businessman's climb to the top (Aishwarya plays his wife) and Kuch Na Kaho, a hilariously cooky and adorable romcom where Abhi plays a man visiting India who falls for *gasp* single mother Aishwarya. If you want to see their best films, I recommend Yuva for Abhishek (it's a movie about corruption and srudent activism, and he gives the movie's best performance as the slowly-descending-into-hell small time thug) or Bunty aur Babli, a hilarious romance/comedy/crime-caper (Aishwarya has a cameo). For Aishwarya, it's undoubtedly Devdas (operatically tragic love story) and Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, about a traditional girl having to decide between two men (one of which is played by *scandal* her ex-real-life-bf Salman Khan).

Oh gosh, too adorable!
I always thought Abhishek was too adorable and sweet, and I've always liked Ash. But together they are just astounding. They came to Toronto recently and they seemed so happy and ecstatic. I really really really really really hope they stay happy and that it lasts. ^_^

Date: 2007-08-23 12:26 am (UTC)Between interviews and comments from co-workers, I've always thought of Rai as this refreshingly practical, feet-on-the-ground person who is (emotionally) guarded to the point of near-paranoia. I don't blame her, what with the scrutiny on her for beauty and Bollywood rep. And hey, if my ex were Salman Khan, I'd be damn paranoid about who I got close to as well. (I love Salman, but if even half of the stories are true he'd be one of those boyfriends who wrecks your life.)
I wonder if that's half the reason she's so good with SRK -- he also comes across as incredibly professional and practical, and I can definitely see her relaxing around that and giving a more convincing love performance because of it.
I need a Bollywood icon.
ps they look so sweet in Guru! I think I need to see that.
