Yes, honey. Your Dad just tried to shoot your OTP stone-dead. T-H-E-R-A-P-Y. (Argh, it kills me that she doesn't know it was him who saved her and keeps being mad at him most of the ep. Argh!!!!)

And he's off to save Undaddy and I realize that, no matter what, YS genuinely loves the man, and oh, no matter how this comes out, it's going to be ugly.

It was interesting to me that the way YS tried to convince Undaddy to let him do revenge his unbloody way was was not his real rationale (he doesn't want to kill, he wants to have a life after this is over) but by a pragmatic 'it will be harder to get next next target after a murder.' He knows Undaddy would care zip for his real reason. But Undaddy doesn't plan to give up either - he'll let YS have the malefactors arrested and then he will off them. Oh, Undaddy, I pretty much hate you.

And next morning, she walks by him without a word, giving him what, in Regencies, would be referred to as a cut direct, and I want to shake her and yell at her "he saved your life, girl, be decent!" but of course she has no idea and, from her perspective, he's the careless selfish playboy who couldn't care less if she or anyone else lives or dies.

This is actually a motif for a large part of this episode - him staring at her life, excluded (he would be anyway due to his secrets, but much more than otherwise); her ignoring him and being rude; etc. And she is not wrong from the facts in her possession, but it hurts so much to watch. I am completely irrational both about this couple and about YS (who just might become my favorite 'superhero' ever).

Even this gorgeous little scene (I love how aware they are of each other when they are this close) ends in her walking away. Ouch.

This is also the ep where we find out about Nana's "Daddy Long Legs", who is a mysterious person sending her gifts and encouragement for years. It turns out (though Nana does not know yet) to be Sexy Prosecutor, who is likely driven by the guilt that it was his father who caused the car accident which killed Nana's mother and put Nana's father in a coma (and it's indicated Prosec's Dad was at fault). Somehow it makes Sexy Prosecutor instantly less appealing - he's hiding his identity not to protect Nana and to not drag her into his world, the way YS largely does, he's hiding it so she won't hate him. Plus, YS reaps only bad things from his secret (she thinks he is useless, crushes on Sexy Prosecutor in front of him, etc) but Sexy Prosecutor only reaps good things (she crushes on him which she wouldn't if she knew the truth).

Overall, so Nana's courtship choice is either son of guy who offed her parents or man who is leading a double life and whose mission will eventually be to bring down the President, the client she is sworn to protect. Register with eHarmony, Nana! But first, stop rubbing your loathing of YS and your crush on Prosecutor in YS' face. I don't like it when you make the puppy sad.

There is something ridiculously little-boyish about both YS' blatant adoration of Nana (which is so blatant that everyone except for its object realizes how smitten YS is - even secondary girl seems to (side note, OMG, is she boring. Can we eliminate her subplot? My eyes glaze over)) and his method of pursuing her - he's just driving his car slooooooooooooooowly to keep pace but insisting he's not following her, he's just going the same way.

Or when he's sending Nana texts and being ignored.

And he realizes he lost his bullet necklace. Yup, Nana has it, musing about her unknown savior. Argh! He's right theeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeere!

I loved this scene. He finally snaps and throws her over, and it's the same motion her rescuer used and, while I am not sure she realizes it was YS who saved her, the mere connection is getting her very flustered. YESSSSS.

His colleague is sloshed (about which more below) and Nana shows up as a designated driver and they have to do some fast talking to explain it away (Nana is not supposed to have extracurricular jobs). You know, he may be late with giving her a wallet or ointment tube or whatever, but he's always on time when it's something important - saving her life or her house or her job.

LOLOLOL the drunk guy is sleeping on her shoulder and he hates that so he starts swerving so guy'd fall off and Nana is all "WTF" and he blandly tells her he drives like this all the time.

You know, his revenge is always personal - not for his father, who is an abstraction to him, but because people he is going after ruined lives of people he knows - like the younger brother of the colleague, who had to have a leg amputated after contracting tetanus due to bad boots sold by target n2. He is avenging continuing current wrongs, not abstraction of justice or some event that he has no emotional connection to, like his father's death.

And here they are on the way back, an unspoken truce emerging after he saved her job. His little transparent trick of 'falling asleep' on her shoulder and her amusement at it made me grin like a lunatic. You know, a motif is emerging of Nana collecting and caring for lost and abandoned things - those little kids in the basement, then an abandoned puppy - Yoon Sung is just one more such thing she has unknowingly added to her collection.

Why are you guys so ridiculously, impossibly cute together?

Oooops, there is a bad guy in her place, hunting for him, and YS lures him out to fight him.

And he stays outside all night, to guard her. You are killing me with this OTP, drama!

Ohhhhh, she found out he bought her house (bank sold it to some jerk who was threatening to evict her and so YS bought it from him). This is going to get ugly!

On to ep 6 with Korean Bruce Wayne!
