I kinda get why GY/DC aren't as popular as the other big ships in the drama - DC isn't nearly as smart as As Xiang or quirky as Xiao Qiao. And Guan Yu is ridiculously my type but my type is "righteous stick-in-the-mud" so...

But that's OK, I adore them enough for the rest of you. They are just so supportive and positive and solid together.














At her bedside, when she is very ill and unconscious and not likely to ever wake up. That is why I love him.






































She's been cured by Lu Bu and, as a side-effect, the Very Big Change potion is also gone out of her system forever. GY just learned she had it - it's sort of like an anti-depressant, to make her more cheerful and outgoing. It doesn't change her basic personality but it helped her after she became depressed after her father's coma. And Lu Bu believes the potion is the only reason DC went for GY and you can see GY be terrified it is true (because Hua Tuo told them this is just to cheer her up but HT's potions tend to be kinda...iffy, so who knows 100%?). I love how, when it looks DC is back in love with LB, he just bows his head quietly and you just know he'd never try to stand in the way. Oh, Guan Yu! But thankfully that is not the case. DC=win.























































































































If you prefer Shang Xiang and Liu Bei (and I do adore them to bits) here they are. Xiu is so close to revealing his true identity but he knows he can't. I love how they are both so smart and straightforward and a little disbelieving that there is this other person who will love them like that. They totally put down their shells for each other.

Heh, you go, girl!!!!! I love that GY went through so much before she'd love him back bu now that he's won her, she will stand by him and protect him and be his no matter what.

You know, a lot of us had exes from hell but poor Diao Chan is about to have that happen literally. Poor Lu Bu. I don't like you but even you deserved better than this.





The scene which gave the rise to the title of this post. I thought I couldn't love Guan Yu any more than I did before, but this scene proved me wrong. Because - that is just perfect. And huge. Especially in contrast with Zhou Yu's high-handedness in Xiao Qiao's flashbacks. He realizes that when something affects DC, it's her choice and her decision and his job is to support her. I don't want to go all Jezebel but he really gets her autonomy. It's especially huge in context of being wronged, because in that world and especially to GY, the 'right and wrong' and honor and vengeance are all-important but whatever his views on the right and vengeance of the situation, he knows it's not his business but hers. I don't know if I am explaining it well.
