Ripley: believe it or not

I am very excited for a number of upcoming kdramas (Best Love, Lie to Me, You've Fallen for Me, Princess' Man etc) but none of them excite me as much and fill me with as much giddy anticipation as Ripley, a supposedly dark and noirish kdrama starring Lee Da Hae, Micky Yoochun, and Kim Seung Woo. LDH is my favorite Korean actress, bar none. I am her mad and devoted fangirl and will watch anything she's in (she has yet to disappoint me in anything). Micky Yoochun turned me into a hormonal teen in SKKS and is shockingly good for an idol. And KSW is a respected veteran for a reason.

But what is really drawing me in is the story. The media has been saying Ripley is based on a real-life infamous scandal, the producers have been saying this is no such thing, but whether based on a true story or not, this is some interesting interesting stuff. Most kdrama heroines are either spunky (and occasionally naive) or saintly victims. Very very good women, either way. LDH, otoh, plays a woman in dire straits who watches the one lie she told grow and grow and grow and enmesh her and everyone close to her as she spins more and more lies to keep up. A scammer, and not a benevolent one? That's pretty darn unusual.

Yoochun is apparently an upperclass young man who falls for LDH and loses everything as a result. Mmmmmmmmm. Kim Seung Woo plays a man who facilitates LDH's deception even as it wrecks his life, but apparently Yoochun is the one LDH really loves (and who could blame her). Bring on the angst! If I am very very lucky, this will be another Bali or A Love to Kill. In the worst-case scenario, this will be a lot of hot people regularly appearing on my screen.
Oh, and isn't LDH incredibly beautiful?
