I am now firmly convinced Four is not the biggest psycho in the palace.
OMG, the scene where Eight rescued Qing Chuan from being burned to death - even though he knew what it could and would cost him (death, jail, exile etc) and even though Kang Xi sent him to prison for it, he didn't care and was happy because Kang Xi decided to pardon Qing Chuan and take her in as a palace maid - OMG my heart.
OTP OTP OTP! Girl, how could you not fall for him a little after this?
Also, it's official, Kang Xi is insane. His reaction to Eight springing QC directly against imperial edict - jail. Fair enough. Then he goes to visit him in jail and finds Eight making BFFs of all the guards and gambling with them so he decides to have him beheaded.

I could see if he wanted to execute him for QC rescue (that would be major overkill but he's a totalitarian emperor with a bunch of spare kids) but no, only jail for that, but execution for Eight palling around with guards instead of (presumably) weeping on his knees non-stop?
You are freaking insane, dude! Insaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaane. Yes, even if you factor in the fact that he heard Eight make an off-hand jokey comment about what he'd do if he ever became Crown Prince.
Seriously. If I had to live in that palace, I'd just kill myself. I hate every single person in it except for QC, Eight, Nine, Ten, and Four's mother.
Qing Chuan, figure a way to save him, stat, or you won't have an OTP and this will be a very short drama!
ETA: Oh, my heart. My heart. Eight was gambling with the guards for help with QC's chores. - so they'd help her do her work so she won't be as tired. My heart. That means he was gambling to help her and is going to be beheaded because of her OMG.
ETA2: she totally risked her life to try and save his. And OMG the adorableness when she finds out he's been released and checks he's not a ghost. LOLOLOLOL. But she refuses to marry him :( Boooo! It's official, this drama turns me into a lunatic idiot as I was emitting high-pitched noises at the screen and swearing alternately.
