So, should I go see Order of the Phoenix. I adore the books to bits, but didn't like the movies. In fact, PoA left me so pissed off, I ranted at poor Mr. Mousie for hours and decided to never even watch GoF (which I haven't, to this day).

So, knowing this, should I, eternal optimist, give OooP a chance?

I can't wait till July 21st and the last book. OMG. I was going to reread all six before it, but it looks like it's not happening as I started TPS and got sidetracked. Hmmm. I have a week and a half, maybe I can still do it.

It's Harry. Potter!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And also, I started Doctor Who's 'Girl in the Fireplace' before passing out from exhaustion almost literally, and so goooooood.

In conclusion, because every post must have swords, here is a still from Legend, upcoming period kdrama about (interestingly) a King who is descendant of Jumong. Korea seems to make one gigantic, epic, pull-out-all-the-stops period epic dramas per year and this seems to be it. There is going to be angst, and star-crossed love, and Bae Yong Joon looking good.

I am so pathetic. The list of dramas I am currently watching is as long as both my arms, but guess what? I am adding Coffee Prince to the mix. And am seriously considering restarting Summer x Summer. Help. I am a dramaholic.

Bae Yong Joon is lookin' hot. He's got the Legolas hair and the armor.

I love Sophia Myles in that episode. She and David are just too cute together. I think they may be one of my favorite celebrity couples.

1. OMG. John and Baby D'Argo icon!!!!!

2. I was thinking 'Legolas' as well. And hey, no headband :P

3. Sophia Miles and DT are a rl couple? Seriously? Awesome.

1. [livejournal.com profile] brilliantlunacy came up with some GORGEOUS Farscape icons. That one just made me melt, so I had to have it.

2. The lack of starched curtain sash is a steady improvement.

3. DT and SM started dating while they were filming that episode and have been a couple ever since. Makes you wonder how much was DT acting that he was smitten by the Madame and how much he was actually just taken by Sophia.

1. I went to look at her icons, and whoa, awesome ones.

2. Yes. They get helmets instead.

3. Awwww.

Korea and Japan both put out a huge period epic each year, it seems(jdramas definately, but I haven't investigated kdramas). The Korean ones just have about 50 times as much budget...(true for kdramas and jdramas in general, really)

Heh...I really don't get how so many on my flist can watch multiple dramas at once...my second disc of Love Guaranteed(most awesome heroine ever) didn't work and I'm watching something else instead and all I can think is "but I wanna be watching LG instead"(though the fact that I despise most of the supporting characters in War of In-Laws isn't helping) And that's just TWO! And some of you have 5-6 being actively watched at once and can keep them straight...*head spins at mere thought* probably why I only ever watch the first few eps of something while it's coming out and then end up waiting for it to be finished.

Yeah, kdramas seem to do one a year and have awesome budgets. I think a budget for one kdrama is enough for 10 jdramas or twdramas or cdramas. TVB of course makes a lot of period dramas a year, yay! :)

I really don't get how so many on my flist can watch multiple dramas at once...

I am the opposite, short attention span with alternations. When I went nuts and only watched The Outsiders, was the first in a very long time.

Now I am watching Jumong, ROCH, Handsome Siblings, Lovers, The Outsiders and Sweet 18, and that is active watching (as opposed to ones I plan to finish soon and haven't yet). Plus Why Why Love and Hana Kimi of the airing ones...

The TVB period ones I've seen(Lost in the Chamber of Love, The Gentle Crackdown, and now War of In-Laws) have all been good and well done, but I'm pretty sure that if you combine them, you won't exceed the budget of Damo by much, if anything.

And I stare at your list and my brain shuts down...

If I take a break from something by choice, it probably means I've lost interest(unless it's something with several self contained stories)

Nah, I take breaks all the time as short attention span :)

My fave is the 6th book so yeah...

I didn't like 1 and 2 movies and hated 3, so should probably skip this one.

Well, at least Lord of the Rings was adapted perfectly...

From what I read there's a LOT of the book that was cut for the movie, which might annoy those who miss their favorite bits, but (again, from the review in question) might also make for a tighter, more coherent movie experience. Different director/screenwriter this time too IIRC and supposedly the tone is suitable darkish. My (wild) guess is that as long as you don't go in expecting it to be a word for word adaptation of that behemoth of a book, you might enjoy it. "Not great, but quite good" and they loved both the evil lady in charge of the school and the Luna Lovegood actresses (as well as Radcliffe's performance).

Different screenwriter is a very good thing as my biggest problems with previous movies was the screenplay.

I don't want a word for word adaptation *shudder* but I really want at least one of the HP movies get the spirit of the book right.

It also doesn't help that I don't like any of the child actors as I think they are wooden and don't look like 'my characters' the latter of which gripes I know is absurd criteria but still hard to shake.

Well, I'm personally going to give HP movies a miss until somebody pays me to see them - or rather, buys me a ticket so I don't need to pay myself. :D I mean, I just don't consider them good enough as movies to pay full admission price. Of course, I did spend good money on Spiderman 3 so who am I to say anything. :P

And yesss, last book. I have five days off work then so I can read it. Eeeee.

LOL.

Yeah, I am reluctant to commit money and time (which I could be spending on dramas :)) to something I might really not enjoy.

And hey S3 had yummy James Franco and was very slashable, so not a total waste.

PoA left me extremely disappointed because I felt like so much plot was horribly disfigured. However, I persevered, and saw GoF, and found that while it wasn't the book (which I loved) it was actually much more enjoyable than PoA. The triwizard tournament wasn't done too badly. So, I'm going to see OotP. I know they won't cast the marauders and Lily as I imagined them, but I;ve come to terms with that. So go for it. Who knows? Also, give GoF a try. It's not terrible.

I'll check it out if flisters like it :)

Yup, so many dramas, so little time.

And yay for eyecandy

no to 12 step as that would mean giving up dramas :)

should I go see Order of the Phoenix

hmm, that's indeed a good question. if you didn't like the other movies, i don't know that you'd change your mind that easily about this fifth one. but then agian, the battle between harry and voldemort is being called the battle of the century.. so i don't know. if you're all about the book and think that it won't live of to it, then save your money. i'm still gonna see it =P so i'm really excited bout that

I am so pathetic. The list of dramas I am currently watching is as long as both my arms, but guess what? I am adding Coffee Prince to the mix. And am seriously considering restarting Summer x Summer. Help. I am a dramaholic.

haha, you and me both. i've got so many dramas on my plate, and so little time to watch it all, i don't know what to do with myself

Coffee Prince should be a fine addition to your arm-length list, though I would not recommend Summer X Summer. I tried watching it and could not get past the first--second?--episode. I think main girl's character was just so unappealing, she even dampened the Joe Chen's hotness. But it *could* be like ISWAK, where if you can trudge through the first few episodes, it all of sudden gets infinitely better. You never know...

Yeah, I am going to give SxS a few eps in hopes it gets better (I got through 8 eps of the horrible Peach Girl drama after all, hoping it would get better, until it dawned on me it never would).

Ahahahah, the infamous Peach Girl twdrama. I think I slogged through about two episodes before coming to your conclusion. To this day, it's still the worst twdrama I've ever watch....

It was so horrific...it took talent to make something so bad (and I love the manga and anime, too!)

I have not seen the anime, but I ADORED the manga. It was just my cup of fluff and angst. Pity that the adaptation for it went askewy.

Jumonging through history = <3!

Re: Peach Girl. They should make a kdrama out of it. Set it in college, maybe. With Lee Wan as Kairi and hmmmm...who would be good for Momo?

Harry Potter: this is just perhaps me, but I take the movies and the books as different entities. I also am in the minority who happened to love Azkaban. It's my favorite movie so far, as Goblet of Fire is my favorite book.

I also have reached a new level of addiction: I watched the first two episodes of "Coffee Prince" unsubbed. It's an entirely new experience. I didn't know I could reach these depths, but I think I'm ready for the dive into drama addiction.

Go, watch, enjoy! I've always loved that you share your thoughts on your pop culture fixes. :)
