So, today, I finished watching ep 1 of Hana Kimi and liveblogging it as well. Now that I am awake and am used to the different vibe, I love it!





ETA: Nakatsu is a breast man. Hmmmm. Boy, is he going to be disappointed in Mizuki!

ETA: WTF is with the capes? And the weird dorms? The thing is, I love crackiness but I don't think jdramas can pull crackiness off very well, because they aren't made the same fashion twdrama is. Oh well, there's Oguri...

ETA: Nanba? You, Sir, are unhot.

ETA: OMG. Is it an Oguri Shun 'thing' to fall on top of all his leading ladies? No hurry. Don't get up. First time Makino, now Mizuki? And this time, it's even better, as you are not an OTP interloper!

ETA: I love Mizuki's completely accepting, matter of fact attitude about the weirdness. School full of nutters? Oh well. Object of affection surly? Oh well. Heh.

ETA: Sano and Nakatsu are at daggers drawn? Whaaaa? I don't remember that from the manga. This Nakatsu is not very manga like, actually.

ETA: OK, I am not a slasher, or anything, but there are total Nakatsu/Sano slashy vibes. It's almost like they broke up or something :)

ETA: Awww. It seems her niche to fix gorgeous troubled woobies. Hey, after Yamapi in Kurosagi, this is a piece of cake!

ETA: OMG OMG. Sano is being all protective and scary (in his quiet but effective way) and is just AWESOME with these guys who planned to hurt Mizuki. *thud*

ETA: OMG. And she finally falls and he totally has to catch himself from going forward to help her, instinctively. Yesssss. This is gooood.

ETA: OMG omG oMG. Sano is running on the field to help her.

ETA: OMG.

ETA: I have my summer drama OTP.

ETA: The thing is, what I really like about Sano is that put-on antisocialness aside, he really is very very instinctively, unthinkingly kind.

ETA: OMG OMG He is carrying her piggyback. EEEEE!

ETA: OMG. He is now flashbacking to high jumping. I am all for you going back, Sano! I couldn't care less about the sport, but you look fetching in skimpy sports outfits.

OMG! I just watched the first episode and EEEEHHH!! I thought it was boring...until Oguri Shun appeared!!
Yay...he gets a girl in this drama!!

ETA: Nanba? You, Sir, are unhot. IMO, the Umeda and Nanba actors did the roles well(or seemed to in the youtube raws) but neither is remotely pretty enough. Umeda should make girls curse whatever deity they believe in and gay and bi men praise them, and Nanba should make you melt into a puddle of goo just by looking at you. i am so with you on the nanba & umeda :( umeda was one of my favourite characters from the TW version. hot and oooh so witty. The jp one is O___o... old and kind of creepy.

Seriously what happen to all the comic relief? I barely cracked a smile throughout the first episode (except during the shoe part maybe)

makes me want to rewatch the tw version... i miss the bunk beds! I miss sano be 'cool & detached' instead of being mean and pissy (okay I liked him a bit more during the second part of the episode) i miss stupid jokes like nakatsu wearing two pairs of pants. and the ghost guy slidddding along on a skateboard. i miss nanba actually being sexy. and langlang (yangyang?) the school 'princess' being actually princess like!

and twisted minds think alike, as I've capped some of the same moments you did. Actually, I think Hiro Mizushima (the actor who plays Nanba)is pretty cute in RL, it's just that the styling of his hair in this is not doing him any favors. And he didn't look any more skinnier than the other boys who were parading around in front of Mizuki - though I think the leopard print towel added points for me. Umeda-sensei is definitely less pretty and more on the handsome/actually manly looking scale, though they did give him blue contacts and spiky hair. It'll be interesting to see how he develops as the series goes on, and how they're going to address that he's Nanba's uncle.

But so far - total shoujo manga logic crack and I love the little musical cues in this. Shirota Yuu is appearing in the second episode as Sano's high jump rival, so the attractive bishounen quotient is only going up. Toma's Nakatsu is a bit more restrained than Jiro's, but he's definitely got that entire baka thing going on, and you're not the only one who felt a 'ehhhhh, did they used to date or something?' vibe about their ex-friendship.

I absolutely love how bitchy Nakao is, because he's exactly that way in the manga, and I'm definitely liking Kayashima and I think his friendship with Nakatsu is very sweet.

OMG!!!! may i say that nakatsu needs to eat more... him shirtless not so hot... but oguri without a shirt AHHHHH!!!!!!! now that was hotness... * thanks the drama gods for this*

i haven't watched the first episode properly yet, and maybe i'm comparing it to the manga too much, but it's not grabbing me enough. the fangirls are a weird addition to the story... and same with the principal of the school (who was totally absent in the manga). i also have yet to be totally in love with the shun/maki pairing. in my mind, i still see ella and wu zun. =P but what i do like is that i KNOW who all the characters are supposed to be, plus kaiyashima is totally awesome and not overtly weird. but you don't like their nanba-sempai?! i think he's awesomely good looking =P (more so than Kame anyway)

Maki looks too girly to be a perfect Mizuki, to be honest. I keep thinking the perfect Mizuki is a mix of her girliness and Ella's boyishness (I'm okay with Ella's look but honestly they didn't have to give her sideburns, she could've looked a bit girlier). But it doesn't bother me hugely.

The new feel is something I'm honestly not a fan of yet, but the OTP stuff was heartwarming. If they can keep the OTP stuff good, I'm with this until the end. Also? ROFLMAO shoe on her head.

Nakatsu will feel more like Nakatsu once they get the gay-plot on the roll. For now, he was sort of dull.

I see the Kame resemblance but to me Nanba looks more like MatsuJun only with hair worse than the first few episodes of Hanadan. (the skinniness, too.)

The opening credits are bizarre - I hate the wierd stripe things & horrendous colors. But the ending credits are fantastic. I burst out laughing everytime one of them appeared with the rose in their mouth clapping.

And Mizuki is not going to help herself from getting gay rumors if she keeps peeping at guys in the bathroom like that!

I dunno, I don't think that'll happen. :'/ I mean, just in episode one, they skipped from the first volume to the fourth. They might be just skipping around, or they might just be completely taking out some sub-plots. :shrugs:

I think the Nanba in this is okay, even with the skinniness. I hate the Umeda though. :/
I think they should've just recasted Danson and Tang Zhi Ping. ^^;; And maybe Jiro as Nakatsu. Because Toma's a little mean right now...:/ And Sano kind of was too. The bullying in the beginning was unnecessary and the principal should be non-existant and so should the fanclub and- I'll stop. I'm being negative again, sorry.
