Question re: tutorials
Jun. 27th, 2007 10:39 pmYou know how The Outsiders made me learn to screencap?
OK, now I want to have DVDs.
But for that I need a few things.
So firstly, does anyone know how to convert softsubs into hardsubs?
And secondly, how do I convert avi or rmdb files into format playable on DVD?
Does anyone know of any tutorials?
Thank you

Date: 2007-06-28 04:05 am (UTC)You could use Avi2DVD to burn your files to DVD format (I haven't used it before. So I don't know if it's any good. But it's free :P). I would suggest you buy a DVD player that has DivX support. That way you won't have to convert your files (AVI files). All you would do is burn them to a data disc. It makes things so much more easy, and you can fit a lot more video files on a data disc.

Date: 2007-06-28 04:14 am (UTC)DVDStyler is an awesome tool if you wanna make a DVD with purdy menus and such. You'll need an Encoder to convert your vids first though, I would recommend SUPER! Then you'll need a program to burn your DVD to disc --> ImgBurn.
Here's a good place to start: Making Professional DVD from Authoring to Replication.

Date: 2007-06-28 08:26 pm (UTC)I actually only plan to burn avi files for now (though the rmvb thing is really helpful for the future). But avi is not playable on my dvd player so SUPER is awesome as it looks like it will convert avi files into DVDs.
I need to buy a burner (my computer doesn't have one). any recs?

Date: 2007-06-28 09:08 pm (UTC)My computer takes a solid 24hrs to convert & burn a DVD. (DivXtoDVD automatically converts the files into DVD format & then burns them) But a computer not as ancient as mine should go quicker than 24 hrs.
I'm slowing burning everything I have on to DVD. I've done Kurosagi, Pride, Mars & I'm working on Smiling Pasta. The Smiling Pasta (& a few of the Mars) came in a different format than avi so I had to use SUPER to convert them first.
My burner is how I successfully hooked my mother & sister on asian dramas. They are begging for more Smiling Pasta. And I showed them the first episode of Goong & they are drooling in anticiaption of the rest.

Re: DivXtoDVD. yay. I won't even have to install anything enxtra! (Though I'll install Super for the future). I see a burning orgy coming up :)
