After I described the plot of Stairway to Heaven to Mr. Mousie, his opinion was that the drama's message was "if you are born in Korea and genuinely believe in reincarnation, then kill yourself right away and hope like hell you'll be reborn somewhere else."

Indeed.

Ep 8 features some truly spectacular angst (best angsty shower scene EVER!) but also some sweetness.

Jung Suh and Song Joo bond on ice (with him wearing the ridiculously adorable hat little Jung Suh made for him all those years ago. I guess it's very stretchy).

But then he goes back to his office and curls up into a fetal ball on his couch and sobs - the thing that killed me is he's clearly trying really hard not to. He may use a happy-go-lucky manner as an effective facade but he's such a mess. (Also, I find it significant he doesn't even want to go home. Eeeek).

I capped a lot of yummy manpain. Poor thing, pulling the hat over his eyes.

How could you NOT ship them?

Priceless. I love seeing Psycho Bitch thwarted more than I love pie. And I looooove pie.

He runs to an elevator because Jung Suh in it and basically barges his way in, to Psycho Bitch's dismay. She tries to catch up with them and fails.

Ouch.

Bwahhahahaha, thwarted again. When she stands outside the elevator, he shoves her in and is all 'you were going up, that's why you were here, weren't you?' LOL

Oh you poor poor thing.

To show any less interest in ring-shopping, he'd have to be dead.

Psycho Bitch arranged for Jung Suh to meet them there so Psycho Bitch could flaunt in her face. Gosh, if by some freak of nature Sexy Hero and Psycho Bitch end up getting married, I hope he never ever has sex with her - his bits would probably fall off, she's so poisonous.

Not to be outdone, Jung Suh is all 'well, while I am here, I am going to look for a ring for my fiance.'

Sexy Hero tries to 'help' but she won't have any of it.

Heeee.

This is the face of a smitten man.

I love this bit. Psycho Bitch's ostensible reason for calling Jung Suh over was because she needed to see some samples asap. Now she says it can wait until tomorrow so JS just unceremoniously dumps them on her lap 'you said it was urgent.' Psycho Bitch - 0; Jung Suh - 1.

Angst! He really is close to breaking by now.

He arranges a celebration dinner for the group because he knows she is supposed to meet Sister Luster and he's putting spokes in it and she knows he is doing it and he knows she knows. I actually rather like when he goes all bastardy.

Then they all head to a nightclub, thankfully sans Psycho Bitch who had to meet Sexy Hero's mother. I think this may have been one of my fave scenes in the drama because it's so rare to see her just cut loose and be young and have a blast of a time.

(In this shot, he looks freakishly like Jo In Sung)

And then there is a drinking game and they end up as partners.

I think this is a definite fangirl!

The rules are if the bottle spins your way you either both have to take a shot or pass and do a 'deep kiss.' LOL. I think it would be a really awkward game to play with your coworkers, but what do I know.

The bottle lands on the OTP but there is one problem!

Definitely a fangirl!

Song Joo knocks his shot down without trying to go for a kiss.

And then goes for Jung Suh's (she was determinedly going to try to drink it) leaving her so bewildered because he's not using this as an excuse to get a kiss. (Side note - by the time they freaking kiss, it better be a hell of a kiss, their sexual tension is killing me).

And this continues all night.

Needless to say, by the end of the evening he's really hammered and drunkenly stumbles out on the dance floor. I loved this scene so ridiculously much I have no words.

And she can't help it. She knows she shouldn't but her arms go around him, tighter and tighter, and she's stroking him a little and crying and it's all so shippy perfect I just might burst.

And then she can't face what she's doing or what she's feeling so she bolts.

Because it's a kdrama, she bolts right into an oncoming car.

It's like Bollywood medicine. One hit takes away memory, second one brings it back. Because YES JUNG SUH HAS NOW REMEMBERED HER PAST AND I HOPE SHE MOWS DOWN MOST OF THE CHARACTERS IN THIS WITH EXTREME PREJUDICE. She is still in shock as memories come flooding back.

Frantically, and still dazed, she runs to the park where Sister Luster made her throw away her necklace, scrabbling in the dirt, desperately looking for it.

Now that she has it back she is still in shock, wandering the streets, crying, lost.

Meanwhile, in some posh anonymous room, Psycho Bitch (presumably alerted by coworkers) arrives to find Sexy Hero in the middle of what is, hands down, the best angsty shower scene I have ever seen and that is a huge huge accolade to give, if you've seen kdramas :P

He is lying in the shower, still in his clothes, soaking wet, and calling for "Jisoo" (i.e. Jung Suh's new name). I think that is the moment he accepts that Jisoo and Jung Suh are not the same person (ahhhh, irony). He is so out of it and so in his own misery that he looks straight at Psycho Bitch and clutches her and calls her by Jisoo's name. (Psycho Bitch's wailing as to how could he do this to her makes me LOL. I mean, poor thing, all you did was kill his girlfriend!) This whole scene may be the angstiest, sexiest thing I've seen in years. MMMMMMMM.

She leaves but he keeps lying there, just sobbing the Heroine's name. Both of them.

They are very in sync.

As she is coming to terms with the truth, he has decided to let Jung Suh go. Seriously, if this drama had any more angsty irony, no more would be left for any other drama for the next decade.

And now she is bent on vengeance. YESSSS! I love it when she grabs Stepmonster by the throat.

Oh God, this scene. She finds him. I was literally shouting at the screen - 'if you don't call out 'Song Joo oppa!', I am going to kill you!' She clearly heard.

Psycho Bitch literally had to drag him away (btw, what is that hideousness she is wearing? Did she kill and skin a cat?)

THANK YOU LORD!

But then he turns and walks away. He has finally given up looking for Jung Suh.

My God. This drama makes me hyperventilate like no other.
