Remember this?

Well, ummm, is there such a thing as a couples' therapy? Because Diao Chan and Lu Bu both qualify.

I am not sure what freaks me out the most? Diao Chan's rationalization of her mother's behavior, Lu Bu's acceptance of same (well, duh, it's the guy who believes it's his fault his father beats him. Matching issues are in this year, apparently), or the cutesy heart with their matching bruises. Nah, the last wins hands-down. WTF, show, wtf?

In not really related, but sorta, news, this is Three Kingdoms 2010 Xiao Qiao, the legendary beauty?

No offense to the actress but talk about unsuitable. I wouldn't demand they cast someone of Crystal Liu's beauty, but she has to be at least passably attractive. This woman is really really unattractive. Glaringly plain. And from what I've seen skimming ep 40, her vibe does not compensate in the least. WTF? All the other casting is so perfect.

I'm a fan of the dynasty warriors games by Koei. I was scrolling the latest posts from users and stopped when I saw the name Xiao Qiao. I thought, "Hey, I know that name!" I have no idea where to DL dramas. I want Goong/Palace Hours and Gokusen live action.

looking at your LJ profile, I saw that you like bride of the river god. Is that the same as bride of the water god?? I haven't finished that one.

Goofy question but do you like Boy Love, cause if so, I highly recommend the manwha Boy Princess.

I heard about this and thought of you: http://techland.time.com/2011/04/13/china-decides-to-ban-time-travel/

(Apparently Chinese government wants to crack down on time travel TV shows that "use history frivolously".)

I really don't know how I feel about the whole juxtaposition of domestic violence and cutesy hearts. I don't have a problem with goofy but this is...

Also do not get me started on TK 2010's Xiao Qiao. DO NOT. Ugh. It's not like there's a shortage of non-ugly actresses in China.

Yeah, I know. This drama is generally out there (they had a hilarious Infernal Affairs parody) but this....no.

XQ is horrible in TK2010. And I like most any actress. Is she the director's wife or something?

LOL at the first Xiao Qiao and UGH at the second. TK 2010 is clearly going to be the first adaptation where I actually wished Zhou You found a different, prettier wifey. Seriously, she looks like the actresses they use to play Aunt so-and-so in family dramas. The bitchy, pinched-face Aunt that's trying to steal the family fortune.

There are plenty of pretty men in TK 2010 for Zhou Yu to be paired with. I'm not sure if that's up your alley---it didn't used to be for me, but now I'm convinced. Maybe they intentionally made Xiao Qiao ugly so that the slash pairings would work out. Dunno.

Wow, I just reread my previous comment and realized I spelt my favourite character's name wrong. *Zhou Yu! Need coffee.

I'm not a huge slash fan but I'm more than happy when if it works out well. Having looked at that Xiao Qiao, I totally agree; Zhou Yu would probably make a more attractive pairing with anyone other than her. The slashy undercurrents between Zhuge Liang/Zhou Yu in Red Cliff were practically screaming to be noticed.

ahahahhaha! Their haircuts make me laugh!!!!!!! And the heart-shaped bruises? hahahahaha!

his woman is really really unattractive.

She doesn't strike me as ugly? not beautiful, but definitely good looking?

Nah, she doesn't work for me at all.
That bit of KO genuinely creeped me out. I don't like some topics as jokes so....

I find her more decent looking and a much better actress than LCL :X

Different periods have different standards of beauty, she is very wifey material looking and much more desirable back then?!...whereas the 'prettier' DiaoChan is notoriously told she's a devil's incarnate to her face.

Consort Yang, another one of the 4 great ancient beauties may not be passable in our eyes. Tang dynasty loved their ladies full figured.

From: [identity profile] dangermousie.livejournal.com
Yes, but the problem with going ' they picked her because that is what TK period people would find desirable' is that they didn't cast anyone else that way. E.g. I am pretty sure they cast Peter Ho or other 'eye candy' because they think they'd appeal to the ladiezzzz of today, whatever TK era people would have found hot.

Also, that actress just doesn't have any chemistry with Victor Huang so.... :(

From: [identity profile] mookiehyun.livejournal.com
I'm actually very fine with the casting of Peter Ho (you know I'm not his biggest fan) He's very close to the description of Lu Bu, and he's brash and a bit OTT a person to begin with, it's easier to flesh out without too much skills :X

I think part of the prob is Victor Huang is also not that capable an actor, to place the blame both ways... but yes I wished there's more chemistry btn them. But the flip side of the coin, it's seldom THAT blatant PDA in the style of DiaoChan/LuBu, you know how they were scrutinized for being an openly affectionate O!T!P!. In a way I find it oddly ok to not be swooned by the ZhouYu/XiaoQiao romance.

Bottom line is, this is not JohnWoo's RC, so DQ,XQ shouldnt have that meaty a role to begin with if we're going to stick truer to the novel. Yes, CaoCao wants both the sisters (he's a kinky bastard), but ladies r ~ dancing horses in fancy clothes they can romp around in bed. It irked Zhou to swear himself Caocao's nemesis, it seems stupid on CaoCao's end but really in CC's pov, women shouldn't have any effect on the bigger picture if u r some true deserving warrior.
