Does anyone know how to do screencaps in MediaPlayer? I tried VLCPlayer screencaps, with [livejournal.com profile] winterspel's tutorial but the options that appear in my preferences are different then in her tutorial so I can't figure it out. Help?

Windows Media Player? I haven't tried this, but here's a tutorial I have in my LJ Memories: http://community.livejournal.com/icon_tutorial/2640360.html

If I'm on my PC, I use MPC (Media Player Classic) and here's the link for the capping tutorial: http://community.livejournal.com/cap_it/1509005.html

For VLC (I think these are for Windows; never tried)

What options are you NOT seeing in your preferences?

I think I might have an older version of VLC because I am not seeing any of the ones that are listed once you go to 'video' (I am seeing some others but not those).

It's OK, as I have a tutorial in MPCPlayer now and I'll just use that for now (and later I can probably install/uninstall up to date VLC version). Thanks!

Put the scene you want on pause then press Ctrl I. A Save As window should open.

You don't have to hit pause - just "Ctrl I" should work. But if your mediaplayer is the new updated version, then you have to tweak your settings first.

I recommend GOM player - I recently switched to it & I love it because it can handle everything I've tried playing - even the rmvb & mp4 files that some subbers use (like SUBlimes). But the best feature is it not only have a screencapture feature - it can do screencap bursts - hit the button while the video is playing & it takes 10 sequential screencaps at once - then you pick out the one you like best (where their eyes aren't half closed, etc.)

Thank you. I am going to dl it as MPC does play everything but the screencapping thing in GOM sounds awesome.
