Travel blather...
Feb. 17th, 2010 07:56 amWe bought Baby Mousie a big stuffed red and gold tiger yesterday and two pairs of really cute socks to take off and eat as she always does. Heeeeee.
We are having a blast. We rode thw world's longest (in the Guiness Book!) escalator which actually goes on the side of the mountain - it's an outdoor one taking you though neighborhoods. We've been riding the ferries a lot and love it.
We also took the trams everywhere - we rode one to almost the end of the island. We got off at some random neighborhood and walked through a market which would be a vegetarian's nightmare, with raw hearts and bloody slices of still twitching eel in buckets.
We went up to the Peak (amazing view but the bus ride down the really steep windy roads and sitting on the second floor was possibly even more fun).
We saw the world's smallest and most organized protest everywhere. And the building signs continue to be the best - Effectual Building, Honest Pharmacy, Sincere Insurance Company.
Oh, and I wanted to try more traditional Chinese cooking so we ended up in a place where we are a sort of caserrole made with fish intestines and eggs. I think I will stick to less exotic things from now on :)
Today we are off to Macau. EEEEE! According to Korean dramas I have seen, Macau is full of tough gangsters and weepy millionaires - hopefully we won't run into either as the former is too dangerous and the latter too wimpy. But I do have high hopes for running into egg custard deserts.
Oh, and I have never been in a casino so we'll stop by the Venetian. I will keep an eye out to avoid running into emo Jandi and her stylish boy posse :P
ETA: Forgot to mention. There are posters of Farenheit hawking Coke everywhere. I think this is Mr. Mousie's first look at them (though he has no idea who they are) and his comment? "Not a heterosexual among them." LOLOLOL Harsh, Mr. Mousie, harsh! :)
