dangermousieNow, I know the Wallflower jdrama is set and stone and hopefully will be decent. This isn't about that.
This is about who I'd pick to play Sunako, Noi, and the four boys. In an ideal world with everyone available, ages magically matching up/being younger etc.
Korea.
Yes, I know all of these are a few years too old. Whatever. Not only do I not go for younger 'uns, there aren't that many of them out there.
Sunako - Han Ji Hye (alt. Gong Hyo Jin)
25-yr-old HJH can certainly pull off Sunako (especially if they move it all to college). HJH can be perky and pretty in that girl-next-door kind of way but she can also be seriously weird, has a great deal of energy, underlying warmth (which will make you root for her) and can be kickass as hell - see her teen gang leader in Sweet 18. She's also a hell of an actress. I'd vote for versatile, no-stranger-to-odd-or-violent Gong Hyo Jin but she is too old for the rest of the cast.
Kyohei - Hyun Bin
Hyun Bin is 27 which would be right for 25-yr-old HJH. But I'd probably pick him anyway simply because I think Hyun Bin is the most gorgeous Korean actor I've ever seen. I can believe his playing a character who starts hormonal fights by his mere presence. His official profile lists him at 184cm - I have no idea if that's fudged up or whatever, but whichever way it goes, he's freaking tall. So yes, he looks the part but he can also act whatever needed. He can certainly do goofy but he can also do really really violent (have you seen him in Friend? He freaked me out). He's that really rare combo of drop-dead-gorgeous and an amazing actor so yay to Hyun Bin!
Takenaga - Joo Ji Hoon
Yes, yes, I know JJH is currently in the army and has his career in limbo due to the drug stuff anyway. This is fantasy casting. And tall, aristocratic-looking, drop-dead-gorgeous JJH with his effortless on-screen reserve and iciness fits the role to a t. He's 27 so will fit in.
Yuki - Lee Junki
Also 27 (am I good or what?). Junki is gorgeous, funny, and has previously successfully cross-dressed as a girl so what more do you need?
Ranmaru - Park Hae Jin
I was really drawn in by PHJ's acting chops and charisma as a pitiable, repellent villain of a large chunk of East of Eden. So I think it would really be fun to see him play the opposite - a charming, careless, older-lady-loving playboy. He's certainly good-looking and talented enough. He fits into the age range, being 26.
Noi - Yoon Eun Hye
The chirpy, good-natured, hyper, gorgeous Noi, Sunako's girl-friend and Takenaga's girlfriend would be a walk in the park for YEH but I mainly put her in there because I want a mini-Goong reunion.
Taiwan/China
This is also if it was made 5 years back or so.
Sunako - Barbie Hsu
Because I love Barbie forever and ever and ever and an actress who could pull off both the battleaxe no-holds-barred heroine of Meteor Garden and almost-mute and scarred heroine of Mars, can do anything.
Kyohei - Huang Xiaoming (alt. Mark Chao)
Tall, ridiculously handsome, good actor, and no stranger to violence due to wuxia dramas. He's starring opposite Barbie currently as the other guy and this must be remedied.
If you want an all-Taiwan cast though, then Mark Chao - he's hot, looks convincing punching people, and can act.
Takenaga - Nicholas Tse (alt. Vic Zhou)
Mainly because of Da Ren Wu and Handsome Siblings where he played someone with a great deal of reserve and high-bred air. Plus hotness.Note to self, finish Da Ren Wu. I'd suggest Vic as made for the role so I'd prefer him except that it would break my pathetic shippy heart to see Vic and Barbie not as the OTP.
Yuki - Wu Zun.
He's ridiculously pretty, can portray being good-natured and looked OK in drag in Tokyo Juliet.
Ranmaru - Mike He.
He can do a charming bratty playboy in his sleep.
Noi - Ady An
She's beautiful and I want her to have fun in a drama please :)

Are you kidding me? She was born to play this role - have you seen her dorky, violent, awesome turn in the first Gokusen?
Kyohei - Nagase Tomoya
Tall (that's a crazy rarity in jdrama actors), gorgeous, and good at playing violent lunkheads or funny goofballs? Sign me up.
Takenaga - Kaneshiro Takeshi
No jdrama about ultimate hotness is complete without him. And he can play anything.
Yuki - Ummm, no idea who would be girly enough and fit into the 10-yrs-ago timeframe.
Ranmaru - Fujiki Naohito.
He's so gorgeous and was even way more so 10 years ago. Plus, I want to see him smirk :P
Noi - Tokiwa Takako
Yes, I get it, to fit her in this drama would have to be made in 1997 at the latest. I don't care - I love her and think she'd be awesome in the role.
