Continuing my adventures in watching things for shallow reasons (seriously, I have Friend on my HD, and that is one of the few rare drama things which I could claim is a masterpiece, without being ironic or deluded, so why am I watching this instead?) I checked out the first episode of Dream and I like it, even if anyone who claims it's art of any sort would have to get their head examined.
Dream revolves around three people - a ruthless shark of a sports agent (Joo Jin Mo) who has been sacrificed to preserve his agency's reputation and has to start from scratch, a juvenile delinquent with an uncanny right hook and a broken home (Kim Bum), and peppy and wholesome sports instructor (Son Dambi). The agent is going to train the delinquent I am sure. Not sure how the gal fits in yet.
The first episode was majorly enjoyable - I was not bored once. That was due to the following things:
1. Joo Jin Mo remains one of the most gorgeous men I have ever seen. Seriously. He is also a very good actor. I loathe his character (I am supposed to) though I am glad the end of the episode, where he got out-manuevered and out-ruthlessnessed by his boss and you see him desperate and shocked for the first time indicates that there is hope for him yet.
2. Kim Bum - for me, so far, the drama is all about his character. At 19 or so, Kim Bum is much too young for me to swoon about (though if viikii frenzy when he first appeared on-screen was anything to go by, he does not need my swooning as the swooning hordes are already immense) but I do think he is a very good actor - one of the best out of the younger ones out there. Whenever he is on screen, I get a little more invested - he's got charisma to burn, but he also can act, as he's proven in East of Eden (almost stealing the show from the rest of the huge and awesome cast, IMO) and by being one of the few things that got me through the horror that the ending episodes of Boys Over Flowers became (by the end his and Ga Eul's relationship was the only thing I cared for - the main characters invoked only loathing). Here he's got a lead role and a character I like. I am so very set.
3. Fanservice. This drama isn't subtle about it. The amount of shirtlessness is immense and blatant. Bring it on, say I!
I know Son Danbi is polarizing, btw, but I have no opinion on her yet - she hasn't had much of a role so far, so all I can say is she is pretty and I like what little we have seen of her character.
Deep and meaningful shower that was there for very important plot reasons. Ahahaha.

Yeah, this show is pretty open about fanservice.

JJM is ridiuclously good-looking:

But so far I prefer Kim Bum's character:

Danbi punching Kim Bum out for peeping at ladies' showers was pretty hilarious.

JJM does intense so well (Note to self, finish Fashion 70s, where he is an angsty spy):

I love love love Yoon Jung Hoon. You guys do not understand. I don't think he is one of those actors who has a lot of swoony fangirls but his cameo here made me squeal like a 14-yr-old about to meet a Jonas Brother. The knowledge that he has a period drama where he is the star coming out later (he is a 19th century doctor who gives up his noble rank, OMG) makes me swoon with pleasure. Basically, I adore adore adore YJH. I also loved what he did here - JJM, you do NOT mess with Dong Wook! (Yup, another East of Eden reference).

Have some more intense and sexy:

I have no sympathy for him as his firing was well deserved (even if it was done for wrong reasons) but the angst is quite delicious:
