Dilemmas, dilemmas...

What should be my next Lee Dong Gun drama?

For a long time I thought it was going to be Stained Glass (all that yummy romantic angst) but then I discovered Smile Again. And [livejournal.com profile] calledinvain mentioned it's like a Korean take on Taiyou No Kisetsu, a drama I've been nuts for and he plays a messed up boy.

Am torn now. Opinions? Anyone see both, either, and can wisely advise?

I'd go for Stained Glass first because Smile Again is better. SG wasn't that bad, but it kinda went downhill after a few eps.

I'd personally go for Stained Glass, as I love Kim Ha-neul (female lead) and the plot seems cool enough. Plus I remember it having a hot kiss. Though Smile Again looked really cute, too, I just don't know ..baseball?

My first choice - and one I'll def watch myself - is probably the minidrama If in love..like them as it's short and thus probably won't drag much at all. Plus hot kissing & people angsting - should be right down your alley. ;)

I am planning to watch it this weekend or tomorrow but I don't really see it as a drama, more like a long movie...

OMG, Hema icon!

Baseball seems a minor plot point (and I did manage to sit through Lagaan so I am game for anything). Hmmm, probably SG it is.

to clarify about smile again

I've only watched bits of the evil!Takki show, so it may just be a superficial comparison, but here we go for Smile Again:

LDG's character when we meet him is in high school, and is a member of the school committee, etc, etc. His crush object is a tomboy who was raised by her single dad, and she wants to be a pitcher. She meets a hot shot baseball player from the opposing team and is intrigued/impressed by his skill as a baseball player, but since there has been flirtation with LDG, still has an interest in him.

LDG is childhood friends with a girl who happens to have a dad in the Korean mafia - and while being extremely pretty, basically has no self esteem whatsoever because her dad's a complete asshole and beats her, etc, etc. She doesn't like any other girls, and is convinced that LDG will always be around to protect her, so they're practically married, in her mind. LDG is an orphan (I think), and a scholarship kid, and so outside his sunny, popular student vibe, he's pretty lonely and ambitious.

A series of incidents occurs between LDG, mafia girl and Real Crush object which involves RC girl getting humiliated in front of their classmates, mafia girl and LDG fleeing Korea, and the end of their childhood.

Several years later, they're all in Switzerland for some reason. RC girl ends up playing women's softball, the hot shot from before has an injury that sidelined his professional pitching career and is now sullenly working for his dad's cosmetics company, which has a women's softball team, LDG and mafia girl are still together and LDG is resigned, if not exactly happy with his fate in life - and smush it all together, and therein lies the drama.

Will RC girl ever forgive LDG for what he did in highschool? Will hot shot ever play baseball again? Will the Mafia girl ever know the love of a good man?

There's dead and not dead parents, the art of perfume, stunning travel sites, random korean graffiti, and a hospital scene or three.

Stained Glass involves three orphans, played by Kim Ha Neul (My Tutor Friend: a pretty funny movie, and another kdrama involving a teacher falling in love with a student and vice versa - the student's played by the other guy you didn't think was attractive at first in Love Patzzi, not Kim Rae Won, and the kmovie Ditto, and various other dramas), The Other Guy who wasn't Rain in Full House, and LDG. They're all brought together by fate and chibi!LDG and Not Rain swear to protect KHN forever and ever, amen, and that they'll always be friends. Of course, even at this early stage, chibi!LDG and chibi KHN know there's something a little different about their friendship, but it is not to be.....

years later, KHN is grown up and pretty and a free lance photographer. Not Rain (i swear, i'm just lazy and not looking up names) is working his way up in his father's insurance company, and they're still best friends, though Not Rain is obviously in love with her, she doesn't see it. A chance meeting with an obnoxious starlet for her publication gets KHN fired, unless she can come up with good paparazzi photos of the starlet and her millionaire Japanese boyfriend. So she tails them, only to be caught by the Japanese boyfriend, who is Not. Pleased. and tells her she's trash, basically, and then throws her photography equipment into the ocean (did I mention their romantic rendevouz was on a yacht?)

Furious, KHN leaves after giving a piece of her mind to Hot Japanese Bastard, and then legs it out of there - only to find that her friend has gotten arrested by the Japanese police for parking in private property. They both get sent off to jail, until they get bailed out....by Hot Japanese Guy!

Stuff escalates from there.

I love those write ups.

(And references to Not!Rain a designation LDG once had for me as well, courtesy of Sang Doo).

Of course, the problem is noe they both sound even more delicious. *clutches hair*

Btw, re Stained Glass. Please tell me LDG doesn't die in that one and that there is at least hope he ends up with the girl by the end...
