In case you wondered about my recent interest in Chinese period drama Handsome Siblings (this will be the first mainland Chinese drama I watch), I present the below music vid (yup, [livejournal.com profile] meganbmoore already posted it on her LJ).

Very briefly summarized, HS (also known as Proud Twins and Xiao Yu Er Yu Hua Wu Que) is the story of two brothers separated at birth who both grow up to be fearsome fighters and coincidentally meet when grown up. Little Fish (Dicky Cheung) is laid back and mouthy. Flawless Flower (Nicholas Tse. Preach it, sisters, with that name! Heh :)) is as serious and reserved as Little Fish is not.

I confess to mainly being interested because of Nicholas Tse's storyline. His character falls in love with the girl he meets in a battle tournament, and there is angsty, forbidden, OTP-squeeful love.

Shall I enumerate the reasons?

1. Nicholas Tse
2. Nicholas Tse with long hair and sword
3. Nicholas Tse angsting with long hair and sword
4. Nicholas Tse angsting over his OTP with long hair and sword
5. Nicholas Tse having an angsty star-crossed OTP (he meets her in combat tournament, YES). With a cool girl and hugging and kissing and crying.
6. Did I mention that when not with a sword, he fights with steel tipped fans. And still defeats people. Now that is pretty freaking awesome.
7. Nicholas Tse was the only guy brought up by women fighters group who punish men who in their estimation wrong women. Except for him, they kept every guy around in cages. And from what I can see, they eventually put Nicholas Tse in a cage. Sounds like a yummy idea. For falling in love. Thank you, writers!
8. Both the heroines (the heroes' OTPs) are cool and not wimpy.
9. The other brother also appears OK though I admit to a markedly smaller degree of interest in him. But he fights people which always earns points.
10. Did I mention Nicholas Tse? In white.

Anyway, vid:

Everyone in my family watched it for Dicky Cheung, LOL. I was a big fan of his growing up, still kinda am. Nicholas Tse is ok, too, but I tend to like the mouthy spunky heroes in cdramas better ;)

Not always (e.g. I adore Mong Ryong in DGCH) I go for the angsty broody ones :)

1. Mmm hmm.
2. Mmm hmm.
3. *happy place*
4. Don't forget his fan.
5. Actually, he meets her before but does start liking her there. (it cracks me up that both guys lose because they can't make themselves hit her)
6. Aah, there's the fan. What is it with him and fans, anyway?
7. And then they order him to kill her.
8. Actually, so far most of the female characters have been cool and not-wimpy. And the not-cool ones aren't wimpy, they're just evil.
9. So far there's actually been more focus on Little Fish, though I understand that changes in the second half.
10. No, I think you left that part out.

I simply don't think I mentioned Nicholas Tse enough :)

7. And then they order him to kill her.

there too many version of legendary sibling. i watch one with jimmylin and alec, jimmylin and tae, and a littlbe on the tony leung one, i didn't watch this one yet, cause i tire of dicky cheung acting. alway the same and i afraid that he going to butcher up this too like he did with domd 2000, boy that one suck. not fan of nicholas tse and fanbingbing. so i guess i pass this, through the video seem interesting, have to think about it since i had too many drama to watch.

Wow, that is a lot of versions! Which one is your fave?

I've never seen Dicky Cehung in anything so I really have no opinion on him yet. I am a totally shallow fangirl for Nicholas Tse though :)

none actually, legendary sibling with jimmylin and alec is funny but too draggy in the middle part that i got bore, the sequel to it is jimmylin and tae, while it had lot of cute actor, and start of fandom of favorite actor Tae, the plot just suck and acting from jimmylin make me crawl, so bad from the first one he did which is the best of his acting, and they cut too many part that make the ending of the story so confusing. One good thing is character wise, the develope of character is pretty good, since there alot of angst character that i like, which is rare since i not into that, but jimmylin character make me hate him, so annoying, all happy yappy mr. know at all. hear that tony leung part is the best but the version that i got is so blurry and the voice that got dubb really annoy me so i pass it too.

Heh. Nothing like raising hell from a young age :)

He was really good in Tiramisu and The Promise, both of which are movies and thus would require less time investment than a 40 ep series.
