Battlestar (nonspoilery) rant
Jan. 18th, 2009 06:16 pmIt's amazing how bored I am with Battlestar Galactica Season 4. I adored S1 and 2 and liked S3 but this...God.
The overwhelming mysticism turns me off, with all the characters being Cylons, demigods, prophesied or something else similar. I started watching the show because I preferred seeing people, normal people, some heroic and some not, not this symbolism on PCP. When your characters are merely symbols, guess what - they stop being interesting characters. Not to mention all the gimmicky plot "twists."
It's not helped by the fact that probably the only two remaining characters that don't irritate me are Helo and Athena, and that's probably because they don't get much screentime. Lee went from a favorite to someone I want to smack every time he is on-screen. Kara just evokes rage (smugness and dysfunction? Not an appealing combo). Adama should be the President of the "It's all about meeeee!" club, Baltar is, as always, loathsome, and Roslin...the less said the better. I have no sympathy for the craven and selfish Final 4, either, with the possible exception of Tigh.
Way to go, show! Take the characters I like and wreck them.
I'll finish, just because I am a completist, but ugh.
