Taiyou no kisetsu: my next drama

My next drama after Snow Queen? The jdrama Taiyou no kisetsu (Season of the Sun) starring Takizawa Hideaki.

I vaguely planned to watch it before because I love Takki (have you seen HIM?), but the synopsis didn't really grab me. Didn't grab me until calixa posted her own, and also a picspam and posts on how good it was.

And I did further investigation?

And Oh. My. GOD.

This is so for me! I simply cannot resist a story that features a messed-up, manipulative, dramaged Takki bent on revenge who gets sidetracked when he falls in love with an innocent. This is SUCH a thing of mine (Kurosagi, A Love to Kill, Untold Scandal, my reason for wanting to see Queen of the Game, Magic, even if you stretch it, The Duelist).

Oh. Baby.

And then I went to youtube and found the following MV for it and I need to watch this drama YESTERDAY.

When calixa mentioned it had similarities with Kurosagi, only the OTP wasn't all UST but actually RST... I was hooked.

Hmmmm, I am veeeerry curious to see how you like it. Especially the second half of the drama and the end. ;) Yep, very curious! I thought that Takki was photographed beautifully throughout (and unlike some, I did like the heroine despite how young she seemed to me), definitely, but this was not one of my favorite dramas. Which is a big part of why I haven't summoned the motivation to write it up.

It does sound like it's angsty, has revenge and an OTP, so those are things that generally appeal to me :)

I thought the elements were all there for a great drama, but I felt like they dropped the ball halfway through. There were awesome moments throughout, but overall the second half lost me as a cohesive whole. I loved the OTP (all OTP scenes were lovely), and I loved the heroine who was very plucky. As I said before, I'll be curious to see how you feel about the second half and end. Perhaps you will like it better than I did! :)

Thanks! I did love the second half of Forbidden Love and all of Kamisama more than you did, so maybe it'll work better for me. If not, I am pretty liberal with ff button so hopefully it'll be OK. Hey, it can't be as bad as Boku Dake No madonna which I didn't like at all :)

Takki is one of my favorites because OMG...the pretty. Have you seen Majo No Jouken? he is the lead in it and it has a happy ending.

I have a decidedly love/hate relationship with this series. The premise enticing and, well, so is Takizawa Hideaki - what isn't there to love? Well, quite a bit... BUT there are AMAZING scenes that draw you in and make you watch it despite yourself, and that's what gets to you (I wrote a bit of a "photo essay" on the situation back in August, when I swept through it - I won't post the link, because it's rather spoilery)... I wanted to give up, to move on to another series, but I JUST COULDN'T - the OTP is too awesome, and they just kept SUCKING ME RIGHT BACK IN. It's the mafia of doramas. Once you're in, you can't get out, no matter how much you want to.

I remember scrolling through your posts and thinking it would be something I want to check out. I am a sucker for good otps. I can overlook most other things if a story has a good otp (that is what ff button is for :D)

Taiyou no Kisetsu has been filling up my harddrive for a while now, but I decided that I need to finish Majo no Jouken before I start watching it. It sounds very interesting. And a messed-up up Takki as the lead sounds very good in my books as well :).

Well, angsty Takeshi Kaneshiro won over angsty Hideaki Takizawa :), meaning I got sidetracked by Kamisama Mou Sukoshi Dake (and Hana Yori Dango 2) :). MnJ is first on my list to finish now that I've gotten through the other two.
