Corner with Love: full-on adorableness
Dec. 28th, 2008 10:20 amI have just finished the first episode of the Taiwanese drama Corner with Love, starring Barbie Hsu (my favorite drama actress) and Alan Luo (who I really like).
I am in love! It's a giddy, fun, romantic delight of a drama. The plot is sort of a reverse Cinderella. Barbie's character is a rich girl, who is spoiled but not bratty (you can't help but love her as even when she is being unreasonable, she is not being mean). Her paths cross with the bristly, hot-tempered aspiring artist (but now a fry cook) played by Alan Luo.
Barbie's life is seemingly perfect -- the only child of doting rich parents, she has just gotten engaged to a man of her dreams. But her world is about to come crumbling down, as her parents lose everything and leave, sure that her rich fiance will be able to take care of her. Umm. Yeah, right. Rich fiance quickly gets engaged to another rich heiress and Barbie is left on her own, no money, no work skills, no family. The only person she knows in her new mileau is Alan Luo. Will she learn job skills and idependence? Will they fall in love? Will rich fiance come back to try to cause havoc? Will Dangermousie love all this? Heck yeah.
Look at this adorable shippy MV:
My favorite scene in the first ep? When Alan is teaching Barbie how to cook shrimp omelettes and she doesn't want to tie her hair back with a rubber band because it would ruin it, so he ends up holding her hair for her, and then can't help but lean in and smell it. Such a little, yet sexy scene. Twdramas are always so much more natural about sexuality and attraction than jdramas, for some reason.
