Guuuuuh, what am I doing getting a 40 episode series, considering how many I already have.

And yet, I just got myself a copy of Yoshitsune, a Japanese drama about an ill-fated (weren't they all) general/nobleman/fighter/hottie, who was a real person (though am not sure about whether the sex appeal is historical :D).

In my defense, 30 hours of Takizawa Hideaki, period costumes, swords, politics and angst is sort of an irresistable combination. It's like Christmas, Hanukah, Eid and Holi all at once.

Fight scene from the drama. Plus hotness and aaaangst.

Commercial for it:

Well, he is a bit effeminate. It does look kind of irresistable, though. Where do you get it?

LOL, You know you've been watching Japanese dramas a little too much when your first reaction is 'he doesn't look really girly.' Heh. (He doesn't, by jdrama standards. :D When I think jdrama girly guys, I think of Kamenashi Kazuya, whom I like but who seriously looks girlier than me, or Matsumoto Jun whose face might not be particulalrly girly but who spent the last drama I saw him in with an awesome shiny manicure. I've been warped. Though he does get mistaken for a girl in the clip above so I guess th bridge guy hasn't seen too many jdramas either :D).

Anyway, you can download it at [livejournal.com profile] jdramas comm (you have to be a member but you just have to join). Last time I checked, it had all the eps. Alternatively, if you don't feel like dling before checking it out, http://www.crunchyroll.com is a youtube-like site to just watch it there. I know it has at least some of the eps, last I checked.

You can purchase it too, if you like, for about $20+, but I wouldn't invest $$$ before knowing whether it's your thing.

Oh, and I suppose this will constitute as spoilers, so don't read it unless you want to be spoiled, but wikipedia has a (rather short) article on the guy if you want to check out if this is the kind of story that would appeal:

*eyes her copy like the beautiful shiny it is*

*scoots it up to being next after Meteor Garden*

*apologizes to My Girl*

It also has Oguri Shun and Abe Hiroshi(between those three, just throw in Fujiki Naohito and Yamapi and I'm in jdrama guy heaven) though I don't know how big their roles are.

I spent the whole vid thinking Monsairaku from Otogi Zoshi suddenly went live action...they move almost exactly alike and dress similarly(what with, you know, Otogi Zoshi being in the heian era...err...yeah...this comment is the perfect example of what hot guys with swords do to my brain...)

What's Otogi Zoshi? But yeah, I loved the fight...very beautiful.

Of course, these clips have done nothing to dispel my thing for having Takki as Tamahome if they ever made (yeah right) live action Fushigi Yuugi. I sort of have to think about who I'd have for a lot of the cast, but Takki as Tamahome and Jun as Tasuki sort of make themselves immediately known :)

Well, I feel bad for My Girl, but (though I haven't watched it yet so I guess I suppose the execution might suffer, no idea), My Girl does not have guys with swords :D And by guys, I mean Takki.

Oguri Shun and Abe Hiroshi(between those three, just throw in Fujiki Naohito and Yamapi and I'm in jdrama guy heaven)

LOL. I've realized all four of the jdrama guys I like have done period stuff: Takki, Yamapi, KimuTaku and Takeshi Kaneshiro :D

Judging by the MV and Musashi(both it and Yoshitsune are annual taiga dramas, which are by the same people-roughly-and a year long) I'm expectiung good execution.

Must. Get. This! It looks gorgeous based on those clips! I think I'll go for the DVDs, because just the thought of the hours and days it would take to download a 40+ episode drama, not to talk of it completely filling up my HD, makes me extremely twitchy :P.

BTW, that bridge fight, music and all, is reenacted in the Takki concert I've been raving about *clutches close her shiny DVD*. I thought it was from Yoshitsune, but wasn't sure before seeing that clip.

Yeah, 40 hours of dl is horrifying even for me. This does look very pretty.
