Something Happened in Bali: indeed

I am in love with Something Happened in Bali the way Domyouji loves Makino :D

Seriously.

People.

It is AWESOME.

I am sure it will be full of romantic angst and love 'beyond madness' and all that awesome stuff, but for now, have I mentioned how much I like that all the characters are pragmatic, hard-headed, not necessarily likeable people?

We finally meet Ha Ji-Won's character (Soo-Jung) and she is chatty but like everyone else in this drama she is very concerned with practicality and money and everything else. There aren't any 'pure' souls in here. They are all messed-up and cynical and OH BOY. I love.

I really love the scene where Jae-Min comes out and watches his fiancee swim. You can see that he is admiring her figure, and it's not romantic softening or anything but 'hey I am getting married to her, at least she is hot and I am here bored.' And he takes off his shirt (did I mention the sheer gratuitous amount of male state of undress in this one? And seeing that both Jo In-Sung and So Ji-Dub are fiiiiiine specimens of manhood, it's making it a bit hot in the room) and jump into the pool and tries to kiss her. And she pushes him away and he asks 'no?' and she answers 'no' so he coms back out and walks away. And she is thinking. I am not describing it well at all, but it's just a scene without any sentimentality whatsoever. It's not 'OMG, I am thinking about my ex boyfriend' on her part or 'I could fall for her' on his. It's just...so hard-headed. I really like it. Because the guy is going to be destroyed by love (though not for her) and it it's really interesting to imagine it precisely because he is so detached.

And I love Soo-Jung (who is a tour guide) finding out that she's been hired by the second son of the Pax group (Jae-Min) who is single and she starts powdering her face and asks 'is he good-looking?' (oh girl, if you knew :D) and then adds matter of factly 'not that it matters.'

I can't wait to see these two very grown-up hardheaded people swept away.

Ok, I'm seriously intrigued by this drama now...
I know it becomes quite angsty but is there going to be any OTP character death? I don't cope to well with the dieing!

Are there any direct Download links for it? I didn't have any luck finding it on the jdrama community.

Oooh. Jakarta. My city! Btw have you been to Indonesia at all? If you haven't been to Bali (which is probably the most visited tourist destination of all) then I'm guessing you haven't. Well if you ever come down here lemme know and I'll be your tour guide :D

Yeah, you're pure evil! ^^ This drama looked way too much angst when I saw you posted youtube videos of it. It sounds so interesting now. Evil!! I already have too much to watch. EEEEEEE! Sounds wonderful, especially the part where cynical people are going to fall in love so hard soon! I think I am overdosed on teenage dramas and at the present moment I CAN'T WATCH TEENAGER DRAMA EVER AGAIN!

Well, not everyone. The 'other girl' will survive. That actually doesn't bother me because two eps in at least, I find all of them really interesting but not super likeable.

There is this awesome scene in ep 2 where the heroine helps the drunk hero to his hotel room. At that point she thinks the rich guy is someone else but while she doesn't like any of the other three characters, she's sort of clicked the best with him (because he's not the 'rival' like the girl, and not 'target' like the other guy) and he is kinda amused at her mistake (she was asking him for info on 'Pax Group's second son') and you can see him watching her when she doesn't notice and getting a little caught.

But anyway, she gets him to his room and he asks her, how much for her to stay the night (!!!) And he tells her he'll pay her however much she's made up to now. And unlike a normal Korean heroine who'd kick him in the face and walk out, you see her totally nerve herself and then she goes 'You are a real jerk...[pause] are you going to pay before or after?'

I nearly fell off my couch.

So he throws some money at her and tells her to leave because this isn't fun any more and to buy herself a new pair of shoes (her heel is broken). And yeah, she takes the money and leaves and then starts crying in the hallway.

I was o:o I am sold.
