So far, it's like Korean Germinal
Sep. 27th, 2008 08:04 pmI have finished 3 eps of East of Eden and it's amazing. Really is. In fact, it makes me so into it I can't really meta too much for now (though it's a very meta-worthy show). It's just genuinely good.
Also, who is this? He plays the younger version of SSH's character and he is very good.

But so far, my favorite actress and character in this is Dong Wook and Dong Chul's Mother. She is just...I don't know who the actress is, but she knocks my socks off.

I find it interesting that the mine-owner's 'son' is soft-hearted and good but mine-owner is doing his best to eliminate those qualities. But the thing is, Myung Hun (the 'son') might be good, but he is only passively good. He is a weakling, probably because he's grown up with such a domineering parent. He never speaks up or stands up for what he knows is right. While Dong Chul and Dong Wook, who both grew up in a school of hard knocks, are tough and will not back down.
Oh, and Korea, as always, produces a slew of really good child actors. Really good.
