Taiyou No Kisetsu and a bit of Takki gush...

In between everything else, I've been contiuing watching Taiyou No Kisetsu. Four episodes in, I love it. It's going into my Top 10 jdramas list, and with the exception of 'Forbidden Love' it's my favorite Takki drama.

I am going to have long meta on it (rather OTP centric because broken boy/unworldly girl who breaks through is my favorite thing ever and THE RAIN SCENE OMG) but for now, all I'll say is I LOVE IT.

I really like Takki's acting in it too, but I have to confess that he just might be too good-looking for his own good :D This is the best I've seen him shot (all the jeans and dress shirts combos don't hurt) and well...normally I don't find jdrama guys as hot as kdrama or twdrama guys,* but with Takki, WHOA. The only other jdrama guy I get this reaction with is Takeshi Kaneshiro: just sort of staring and wanting to double check if I am seeing right because he is just that beautiful (as opposed to Yamapi, who is very good looking but the main thing that makes him so irresistable favorite is just the sheer sexiness vibe). Takki is sexy, sure. But the thing that strikes me most about him isn't that. It's just the physical beauty. I keep spacing out and staring. I am not sure if I am explaining the distinction very well...

* If you want to know jdrama guys I find irresistable, they are: Yamapi (the most :D), Kimura Takuya, Takki, Takeshi Kaneshiro and Oguri Shun.

Most of the jdram guys fall into Kame and MatsuJun category for me: I like them as actors, I think they are cute and what not, but they don't make me swoony.

And on that note, Proposal Daikusen starts tomorrow!!! EEEEe!

Takki IS absurdly pretty, isn't he? And I know what you mean about not JUST the looks.

I need to see more of Takki...all I've seen so far is Satomi Hakkenden, though I do have Yoshitsune and Boku Dake no Madonna in the backlog(I'm not counting Antique in either)

OMG OMG OMG. Where did you get Yoshitsune with subs? I want it so badly. Swords+politics+40plus eps of Takki? My God, thank you drama makers!

I didn't like BDNM much, but he was very good in it (the girl drove me up the wall).

Oguri Shun is gorgeous. Much as I was a D/M shipper through Hanadan, sometimes I'd just space out staring at him. If I was doing a drama version of Walflower, he'd so be Takenaga. (And Yamapi will be Kyohei with Maki as Sunako, and Takki can be Ranmaru and Kame can be Yuki. And then I'll die of the hot. The girl who is going to be in Proposal Daikusen can be Noi and Makama Yukie the Landlady).

Btw, I checked my Tokyo Juliet DVDs and they are awesome. I am going to post a locked post with purchase link tomorrow...

Oh, and am SO getting first volume of SDK tomorrow. If I can pause in freaking saving every awesome Kyo/Tohru scene...takes forever :)

I LOVE your Wallflower casting...though I could also see Erica Toda as Noi easily. Nakama Yukie(or the actress from GTO and Forbidden Love and Domyoji's sister as an alternative) would be awesome as the ladylady...though if Yukie is the landlady, I demand that Abe Hiroshi and Fujiki Naohito guest as her flings.

and YAY! for SDK...*is tempted to post non-perverted Kyo/Yuya scenes* really though, you know me, if he ever actually DID anything to her, I wouldn't ship them at all(and frankly, if he ever did do anything to her, the rest of the cast would slaughter him) Most of it(after the beginning, where he's largely acting out and sulking) is him trying to convince himself and others that he doesn't care. Which convinces absolutely no one, especially since he literally ignores the existance of all other women regardless of whether or not she's around, and when the boys go to a brothel, he sits off in the corner drinking sake and giving out death glares to anyone who even thinks about going near him while the others act like guys in a brothel.

Awww, the K/Y does sound cute.

Erica Toda is cute but it's too close to Hanadan2 for me to want her as a positive character :)

I think Nakama Yukie can do scarier much better than the Domyouji Oneesan actress.

K/Y is absurdly cute in its odd way. Like I said, it takes a little time to get like that(the brothels bit isn't his immediate status quo... boy just spent 4 years locked in a box and Yuya is initially associated with giving the guy who put him there platonic warm fuzzies, though he doesn't do TOO much as the idea of doing certain things in someone else's body is too odd even for him. But there's a reason they were one of my big OTPs even before I read ahead and went psycho a couple months back.

See, I think Umi is part of why I haven't watched the rest of Hanadan now that it's finished...I liked her in Nobuta and absolutely adored her in GalCir(and what little she was in the first Death Note movie)...I just don't want to see her as a character I don't like. But I do think she's closer to Noi than the other actress(who I also like)

Very good point about scary. Hmm...Fujiki Naohito(the original Hanizawa Rui) can be a sexy enigmatic one she has absurdly hot chemistry with and Abe Hiroshi can be a disheveled one she constantly bickers with and sets off sparks with all over the place. We'll bring in MatsuJun to guest as the S&M one to send ratings through the roof and guarantee a second season.

For me it's Kimura Takuya and Odajiri Joe. Kimura because he just oozes masculinity and has very expressive eyes, and Joe because he seriously morphs with every role he takes on. So sexy <3333

I like Takki and Yamapi lots, but they don't make me swoon. A little too pretty, I think... and, Yamapi's eyes freak me out... they're so dark and glassy. I can't look at pictures of him for too long because I start wondering if he'll suck my soul out *laughs* But he is so cute <3

Gah, I really want to watch this but I picked up way too man (*cough* almost all the new kdramas, lol). I really thought I'll need filler dramas while waiting for subs but there's so many good dramas out this season! I'm so excited for Proposal and Bambino!! I really hope the subs will come out fast like Hanadan.

I think the thing with MatsuJun, he is a bit too young for me. Yamapi is the youngest of the bunch of actors I listed and he actually looks somewhat older in dramas than his real age :)

Oic, I think he's just 23. I guess i don't think anyone too young since they are still older than me. :P I agree, Yamapi does look older than his actual age. I was surprised when I found out he was only a year older than me. I hope ProDai subs will come out soon. I'm dying to see it! Bambimo is out tomorrow!! HURRAY!! :D

Oh fully agree! I don't find Jap guys as hot bcoz...they're too skinny!Some of look as though they've been starved. I like my men healthy looking XD. That's probably why I cringed at MatsuJun in HYD 1 & 2. He is such a hottie, yet he looks like he hasn't been fed in days. I mean he looked way better in Gokusen when he was chubbier (ok not chubbier but more fleshy). Korean men and even Chinese (although most are quite small) look MUCH more attractive. Heh. I don't find Takki THAT attractive now because he looks so... femininely. Ewww! I hate his weird mullet thing!

Geez he looks skinnier than Elaine (a friend of mine...who well...is REALLY skinny) XD But Yeh, usually Takky is a QT. I saw him in Majo No Jouken and I thought he was hot. Maybe because he was 17 then and he looks more like the guys I know and most of the guys I find attractive in RL. Heh. Who is Takeshi Kaneshiro?! I've probably seen him but never really noticed him.

Heh. I do agree that a lot of Japanese actors are too skinny. I don't mind Takki's mullet though :)

Takeshi Kaneshiro. He mainly does movies but he was the lead in one of my fave dramas 'Kamisama Mou Sukoshi Dake' [God Give Me More Time] where he got to wear white shirts, leather pants and angst a lot. He was also in 'House of Flying Daggers' and 'Chungking Express' movies and some others.

Well, you probably already know that I find Takki awfully pretty and *extremely* attractive. And he can sing and dance and act, too :). But I completely know what you mean with the spacing out and just staring at him.

I think I'll let MnJ wait for a bit more and start on Taiyou no Kisetsu instead, since with all the new jdramas (EEEE! Proposal Daisakusen, Liar Game, Bambino) starting, I need to free some room on my computer. I am getting incredibly excited over Proposal Daisakusen and can't wait for someone to upload it.

I know, I know. It's a constant dilemma that there just aren't enough hours in the day to watch all the dramas I want to :P. But ProDai is an absolute must. And those pics posted about The Liar Game in your R&J post made me want to see it even more than before. MS looks gooood :).

Oh, and those extremely dirty song lyrics Takki wrote really made my head explode and mind go straight to gutter. *needs cold shower just thinking about them* !!! I was sort of expecting it from "Taste Me" because just the English lyrics indicated it wasn't exactly the most innocent song out there, but I never suspected what "Futari no Yoru"'s lyrics meant before I read the translation.

Re historical dramas: the reason we watch them is, of course, that they are educational! That's my version and I'm sticking to it :). It has nothing to do with ogling pretty boys in historical costumes with swords or anything like that *g*.

The Rain Scene is one of five scenes in this dorama that made the entire thing worth watching (I found a lot of it rather slow-moving for j-dorama and while I enjoy the Shakespearean-tragedy-ishness of Kurosagi, here it just wasn't my thing, so while I appreciated the dorama, it's not on my list of favourites). In fact, three of those scenes are on my list of Top Favourite Dorama Moments EVER (yes, even after the rain scene, there are TWO MORE brain-meltingly-squee-inducing-hyperventilatingly-awesome scenes to come). It's one of the reasons I have such a love-hate relationship with this series, because I really REALLY love parts of it, and yet, not so fond of others, which makes it so baffling, as I usually either LOVE or HATE, never have much room for gray areas.

I am in the middle of ep 4 and I totally get what you are saying. A lot of it (while I don't dislike it) doesn't really grab me, but every time it's an Eiko and Tatsuya scene, I am just riveted.
