I go Buffy-crazed :)

Eeeeee! As I am sure you figured from the above mini-spam, Filmi Girl and I had a blast watching more Buffy. Specifically, the awesome eps 'The Dark Age', 'What's My Line' two-parter and 'Ted.'
THE DARK AGE
I like TDA but don't have a super-long meta about it.
I do have to say that Giles=Amazingly Hot. He wouldn't have to be a single librarian if I was single and around :) Also, my feeling that Ethan/Giles were evil slash OTP in college sets in stone with this ep. Seriously. I can't help but love Ethan. He is evil but so fun...
Oh, Jenny. She is someone I don't dislike or anything, but I only shipped her and Giles because Giles liked her. At least in retrospect. Her behavior with Angel's clause is about the stupidest thing anyone on the show does, and that's saying a lot. (Don't even get me started on the weirdness of the curse. What's the point of putting a happiness clause and not telling the guilt-stricken guy in question? I mean, if he knew, it's great punishment, because he'd make himself wallow in misery and run away from anything that would even potentially give him happiness. If he doesn't know...what is the point? Except that less guilty and more happy he is, the sooner evil psycho demon comes out to off people who have nothing to do with anything.
Anyway, I guess it works out as some sort of balance, that Angelus kills Jenny later because if it wasn't for Angel, Jenny would be dead months before :) Or something.

WHAT'S MY LINE 1 and 2
Oh, Marti. I think I know more about your kinks than I really should. I wonder if there is a Mr. Marti, and whether I should feel sorry for him or whether you visit dungeons together? Angel bondage and torture in this ep? Yeah.
I am totally shocked what WB let Joss and Co. get away with, seriously: s&m, implications of threesomes and huge twistedness of sexual nature. Seriously. The whole scene with mad-as-mad Dru, jealous and possessive Spike and manipulative Angel was pretty much awesome. Especially since clearly in Buffy world torture of hot men involves shirt removal first. I guess Dru isn't that crazy, after all. Side note of a more serious nature. Angel is a lot more 'grown-up' around his former vamp crew, isn't he? Which makes sense. While he might have relatively little practice with being sweet or in love or even psychically functional, he (or his memory bank) has plenty of practice being twisted.
Twistedness and sexiness aside...
WML is one of my faves. What can I say, I am a rabid Buffy/Angel shipper and this has everything I like: hurt/comfort (aplenty), sneaking into each other's rooms, skating, and Buffy stating that Spike can come after her but nobody messes with her boyfriend :)
So permit me to get some B/A stuff out of the way first before I get into the awesomeness of it all. I love the scene when he takes her skating. It's such a kdrama. But what I love even more is when he is in his vamp face and is all 'you shouldn't have to touch me when I am like this' and is all shame-filled and all on one of his 'unworthiness' kicks and she very gently says 'Oh. I didn't even notice' and takes off her gloves and touches his face and then kisses him. *melts into a giant puddle of shippery goo*
I love her coming to Angel's house and falling asleep on his bed for comfort. AWWWWW. Or the bit in the end, when she sees him tied up and helpless in the Church of Evil and her face. *shippy squee* And I love that she cradles him afterwards and he is about five times as big as is :) And then her and Kendra help him out of there and he totally looms over them, even then :P Yes, I am a sucker for height differences.
And of course she goes berserk when Angel is taken by Spike and is in danger. I love BtVS for many reasons but one of them is because they reversed the trope of damsel-in-distress. The tiny girl is the one who can outfight everyone and she is the one who will rescue her bf (who, btw, is tough himself. I hate stories that purport to be feminist by giving a strong woman a doormat boyfriend, as if no strong or smart man would ever want to put up with a strong woman).
Just as I like that when there is torture involved on Buffy (btw, I defy anyone to tell me that all the torture scenes with Angel or Spike through the seven seasons aren't meant at least in part to ogle), it more often than not involves men and not women, and is such a reversal of the typical thing showbiz does with women. Let me put it this way: in the rest of REELworld, it's always women getting tortured. Women get tortured in such a fashion too much in reality for me to be ever comfortable with it in fiction.
A lot of this ep is the tension within Buffy between her calling and the fact that she is a normal person who wants a normal life (as she says to Angel in the beginning. Girl, don't drop those ideas into his guilt-loving brain. Do you want him to get his own show?). I think it's a tension that runs consistently through the show. If it happened (as if sort of does at the end), I wonder if she would be able to function without importance and adrenalin. Early S2 Buffy, yes, I think, she is not so deep in yet. Though even she will miss it. I think it's the lack of choice that bothers her the most.
Kendra amuses me if for nothing else but winning the tough competition for the worst accent on BtVS hands down. WTF? :P So does Buffy's jealosy when Giles starts paying attention to Kendra. She so views him as a father and it's as if another sibling sprang up.
Spike/Dru continue their delicious, twisted, irresistable romance. When he picks her up in his arms and spins her around...*swoon* But ironically, even though Spike is doing everything possible to heal Dru, this time when she is helpless and needs him must be the happiest time in his life. Spike needs to be needed, so desperately. Which is an odd thing to say about an unrepentant creature of evil (at that point) but there it is...
Cordy/Xander and Bug Man, ROFL. They crack me up so. I could never ship them or take them seriously as a couple but they certainly brought in the LOLs. The only thing they have in common is immaturity...
Oh, Oz. Oz. Oz. OZZZZZZZ. I love Oz so much and Willow/Oz does funny things to my insides. He is so funny, and matter-of-fact and eccentric and adorable and whether it is his simply mentioning 'you have the sweetest smile' in the middle of his dissertation on animal crackers and continuing if nothing happened, or getting Willow out of the way of the gun, or commenting on his lack of interest in working. Seriously. OZZZZZZZZZZ. There is not enough love in the universe for the fannish love I feel for Oz. I mean, he is even cooler than Seth Green himself ;)
Planning for career day. We never had that in my high school which seems a good thing :)

Spike and Dru. Who knew evil boyfriends were so solicitous of their evil girlfriends:

Angel manages to look emo even while bonding with Buffy's stuffed animal:

Cute!

This, in a nutshell, why I love Giles :)

Do vamps raid stores at night or do they shop at Bed Bath and Beyond of Evil?

AHHHHHH!!!!! WILLOW/OZ!!!!!!!

I just like this:

Kendra and the outfit of horror:

Because I love Giles:

I love this scene SO MUCH. So much.

Angel. Smash.

And that's Buffy and Kendra in a nutshell:

And I am about to learn more about Marti Noxon's preferences than I want to:

Love that scene...

Definitely Bed Bath and Beyond of Evil:

Eeee, Spikey.

I know, I know, I hate watching other people PDA's too:

Girl bonding. Hmmm, perhaps bonding is not a good word to use seeing the stuff in these eps :)

Heeee.

WILLOW! OZ! Yes, again the capitals.

Maybe I should lay off Marti Noxon, seeing that I am posting the screencaps with glee :)

Man, I really hope bunches of teenage girls didn't get their ideas about sex from Buffy. :D

I love this scene with scary love but I repeat what I just said a second earlier :)

Seriously, bondage gets a whole new meaning:

AWWWWWWWW. Super-AWWWWW.

I am rendered incoherent again. Especially when he tells her she has the sweetest smile.

Bye, accent girl:

Eeeeevil Dru:

TED
I really like this ep because it takes the spectre of an abusive parent and not only gives it the Sunnydale twist (he is a homicidal robot!) but it turns the table and the little teenager is not helpless in domestic abuse. YES.
Buffy's terror and guilt when she thinks she killed a real person? I loved that part. It wasn't something the show going to dwell on in S2, because it had a different story to tell, but I liked the little taste.
You know Giles and Jenny are doomed because there are sweet, angst-free smoochies at the end. The same is true for Buffy and Angel, because the scene when she helps change banages and pours out her indignation at Ted, and then he asks her to kiss him is...sweet and perfect. We know it's all about to hell.
Oh. Oh. One more ep and Surprise. No matter how many times I've seen it and know what happens, it makes my stomach hurt and I keep hoping for a different outcome.
Friend OT3 :)

Mmm, playing nurse :)
