I enjoyed the latest library two-parter of Doctor Who. A lot.
Then I started thinking about it. A lot of things fall apart once you do that, but my biggest nitpick is this.
Poor poor noble River Song. She dies to save the Doctor she loves (or his earlier self).
Noble.
Super noble.
Right?
Wrong.
Idiotic, is what it is.
He regenerates, OK? What this procedure would do to him is give him a new face and a different way of speaking.
While, you know, for her to do the same thing would lead to permanent death.
Helllllo!
So basically, we are left with two options, both of which are idiotic. Option 1: he had told her his true name which is SO SUPER SPESHUL no Companion has heard it before, but never bothered to tell her he regenerates. OK. Or, Option 2, just as idiotic. She knows he can regenerate but decides it's more important for him not to have to get used to speaking with a new accent than for her to be alive? Once again, OK...
