dangermousie1. I don't like Lee Adama on Battlestar Galactica. I don't dislike him either. I think he is a fine enough person, but fictionally I find him boring. It's like a switch flipped off in S4. I couldn't care less if he disappeared forever. Also, most of cylons could be nuked and I'd applaud. In case everyone forgets, they did perpetrate the annihilation of most of the humans.
2. Donna in this season of Doctor Who is awesome but if they kill her off at the end, I won't be upset. I have no emotional involvement in the characters this season, beyond 'oooh, Tennant looks pretty when he angsts.'
3. I dislike My Name is Kim Sam Soon. This might be one of the most popular and beloved dramas out there, but I am not just indifferent to it (a la Devil Beside You), I actively dislike it. I don't have any negative feelings carried over towards the male lead because I saw him in a drama I adored first, but since it was the first thing I've seen the female lead in, I am actually reluctant to watch anything else with her.
4. Supernatural brings on the pretty. It brings on nothing else. Nothing wrong with that, but seriously, it's not some sort of TV revelation.
5. I don't like Jane Austen. She is technically brilliant, but there is no genuine emotion or warmth in any of her stories, and permit me not to care about a bunch of well-off, snobbish upper class individuals. Lizzy strikes me as a shallow, self-satisfied woman too fond of making fun of at others' expense, and much too concerned with societal norms. And let's not even get into snobbish Emma or saintly-martyr Elinor. Or Fanny! Persuasion is the only of her novels I genuinely like, though Northanger Abbey is also somewhere in the like category. The rest are well-written and entertaining but entirely empty. Give me the Brontes' emotion or Gaskell or Dickens' awareness of social realities any day.
6. It's not cooler just because it's slash. It's not cooler just because it's het. It's not cooler just because it's gen. Seriously. If the story and characters are interesting, then it's cool. The type of relationships you prefer does not make it inherently superior to other stories.
I am sure there is lots more but that's enough of contrariness for the day...
